On this particular occassion I dont think there was much we could do. Normally when driving up we're getting [censored] loads of phone calls and cant keep track of who's who, plus we cant always ring or text back because it gets so expensive. Kev, if you're around / going to the night it all seems to get sorted but when you're not it can get forgotten about as we take it for granted that things are all sorted. I think we just have to put our hands up and say we're still not as well planned as we want to be but as Sarah says what do you do in these last minute meet-ups - when I've tried to plan a last minute meeting place before I've found that people are coming in different directions at different times or going to get money out, drinks, food beforehand etc.. and not everyone wants to hang around.

I think we need to appoint someone on each night to ensure all people on the list are accounted for before the last person goes in - this does call for volunteers though and these are difficult to find.

I will start putting my mobile on my signature again as Kev suggested - good idea - although if it gets too late (bare in mind we tend to go in right at the start) you may not be able to get through at all as there is either no signal or its too loud once inside the club.

I think an hours meeting slot should suffice in some kind of bar/pub beforehand. I think we also need to make sure we dont keep setting the meet-up time too early - as we are usually late, especially when travelling far. The problem with a later meet-up time is that we all want to miss the queues / ensure entry. I guess, as with NEC, the best meeting place is actually in the club itself and to have hourly meet-ups at a certain location - although this doesnt work for people who haven't been to the said venue before!

Once pda's/the internet get more and more integrated with mobile phones we'll all be able to send up-to-the-minute texts/instant messages or possibly have a cut down wap type site listing the last minute meet-up details.

We will definitely learn from this and improve the process - I must admit that I'm often buzzing like a troooper just before the club opens and my mind is often on getting in the club. I'm not sure who suggested WH Smiths but I would have thought outside the club would have been a better option - but ideally a nice warm pub.

Thanks Big E for bringing this topic up - this stuff is important.

I really dont want to have to put my number in sign offs. You never know who is reading the board.

Another point that has to be made is that on the day of events people are much better to phone us rather than text us. This is simply more to the fact that i am usually driving somewhere & cannot text back loads of texts while driving.
