With Mr_Moo on this one, my machine is currently working (well, excepting the fact that since I installed Reason, Cubase now won't play back any audio, but that I will resolve when I need to get all my outboard set up again), and the last thing I wan to do is to have to try and get it all working on a new OS, let alone worry about the stability of stuff on a non-standard OS. (Yes, I know that the *nix's are supposed to be better/more stable, but do I really need to risk all my audio set up, to find out that one plug in I use doesn't work under *nix for some silly reason, after I have invested 2 months learning the new OS....I haven't even gone to 2000 cos I am not sure it is worth the effort)

well i have linux mandrake 7.sumthin, beos 5, win2000, windows 95 and ms-dos all running on my computer

linux and win2k r deffo my fav (if just cuz them 2 (and beos) r the only 2 that support my dual processors) but i do prefer win2k over linux cuz i've actually comfigured win2k exactly how i want it to run

sure linux is more obvious to freek about with, but i can do alot of funky [censored] with windows if ur willing to go trawling through the regestry and the system ini files

i've done things like writtern my own desktop (and i meen actually programed my own desktop and task bar from scratch!), changed the system icons without having to play around with ne theme packs. i've even got games that rnt suppost to run on nt to run on 2k cuz i've tricked them into thinking it was win9x (infact quake3 arena with SMP enabled running on a geforce 2 - if thats not an advert 4 using win2k i dunno what is laugh.gif)

if ur willing to learn about the intricates of the system registry and hWnds then windows is as customizable as linux - only windows dont announce this - u have to actively go out and look 4 the info
