The new Tiesto album is infected with this curse. main one that just pissed me off is deep dish. oddly quantised records do my fucking head in
CTW Members LiquidEyes Posted May 19, 2004 CTW Members Share Posted May 19, 2004 The main problem (in my experience) is when the tracks have different degrees of "swing". I.e. the odd 16th notes on one tune come a bit later than those in the other. Also, in some very loop-based tracks, a key loop is not exactly in time with the rest of the percussion. This can sound really cool (drawing attention to the use of the loop) but can be a twat to mix. The upshot is, even if they are exactly in time, it fools your "DJing ear" because it sounds like the tracks are slipping out of sync! CTW DJs Phil B Posted May 20, 2004 CTW DJs Share Posted May 20, 2004 ive had the same problem with a few of my favourite older tracks, and ive had a few pressings recently where on the lead out 4 beats go out of time before it settles back into the same timing, so a push or pull is needed which sounds wank! CTW DJs Sarah C Posted May 20, 2004 CTW DJs Share Posted May 20, 2004 i thought that psychout by anne savage was a twat like that... but its not that bad, just turns out that my speakers (new big ones for my bday !) are too low to even hear my mixing - theyre practically on the floor so it was just me, that couldnt mix lol! thats another thing.... any of u DJs ever played ina club where the monitors dont work or they are ina really shite position? its not much of a problem cos you can always mix in the headphones but monitors help... CTW DJs LiamStyles Posted May 20, 2004 CTW DJs Share Posted May 20, 2004 I like my monitors LOUD! I like to dance just as much as the crowd, so loud monitors are a must. Not so great for the potential tinitus though Quote LiamStyles Bet you look good on the dancefloor *LiamStyles - mixes on rotation* Current mix "No Concept Of Time" CLICK HERE
