CTW Members LiquidEyes Posted May 28, 2004 CTW Members Share Posted May 28, 2004 QUOTE (Mr_Happy @ May 28 2004, 10:43) im suprised somewhere like the turnmills would have such a naff mixer This was the "back room of the back room"! Just a small bar area with a few tables. There was only a tiny amount of space in the DJ booth too, not enough for two people! The main room wasn't open. The main DJs were in the 2nd room. And the DJ comp was in the "3rd room" if you will.
CTW Members LiquidEyes Posted May 28, 2004 CTW Members Share Posted May 28, 2004 Yep Aaron, it did look a bit like that, but the channel faders were all bunched up closer than that, towards the left of the mixer, and I'm 99% sure there were no other controls on the individual channels apart from gain / cue select / possibly a x-fade assign. CTW Promotors ElsxBells Posted May 28, 2004 CTW Promotors Share Posted May 28, 2004 (edited) Was a really good night. Me and Rachel were a bit gutted when we got there and realised we'd missed hearing Andy play though! The plan had been to leave Turnmills at 12ish, but we were enjoying it too much and ended up leaving just after 2! Was a nice crowd, but maybe a bit geeky in parts - there was a bloke in an anorak standing next to the dj box all night for one!! The music was wicked though it was getting a bit too hard for me round the time that we left and Mistress Barbara was playing. Me and Rachel had adventures on the way home snacking and dodging drunk blokes in Leicester Square. Finally got to bed at 4am! OMG - I'd forgotten about that - an anorak in the truest sense! That's the only problem with techno - it definitely draws in the nerd contingent (myself included...) I've never understand people who don't dance to dance music!

CTW Members rachel Posted June 1, 2004 CTW Members Share Posted June 1, 2004 Excuse me!! I had a really good night, enjoyed the music more than i thought i would. I didn't want to leave but needed some sleep before going to work on Friday. I will definitely be going to more nights like this. But as Elly said there were some real geeks in there, Laurence would have felt right at home.

CTW Members LiquidEyes Posted June 1, 2004 CTW Members Share Posted June 1, 2004 QUOTE (rachel @ Jun 1 2004, 12:38) But as Elly said there were some real geeks in there, Laurence would have felt right at home. Laurence needs to work on his image though. Suggest: thick NHS specs, anorak; don't wash your hair, face or armpits for a couple of weeks, to cultivate a nice line in acne, hair grease and BO. Plus you need to perfect your "gormless stare" for when you're standing motionless next to the DJ booth. Practice standing absolutely still in front of the mirror while listening to the best music you can dig out of your record box. Hey presto, the "techno geek" look.
