The only thing I'd say Tom is that we might not have many posting now but i reckon longer term we will so its good to plan for the future perhaps / show that we are encouraging people to post this kind of stuff.

fair play, it could always just start as "Members' Music Work" or something and then if it *does* seem like the two need to be spun-off then split. gurn and 4clubbers only have one "tunes" forum where members' work goes in, and harderfaster combines DJing with production for their imaginatively entitled "DJing and production" forum.

it's really up to you as to where you're wanting to take the site! too many forums kill the cook and spoil the birds with one stone and that.

i think reviewing tunes points to reviewing the person that made them, and a lot of the are djs so its kinda in the same bag really

most of the threads ive read in here are a waste of time anyway... heavy traffic yes, but pointless ..

post- this tune is great!

reply-yes it is

get me?

I do get u, but it isnt reviewing tunes tho is it, its peoples own personal opinions on tunes or tune reccomendations to other people on the site!! Some people are more interested int he tunes forum than the djs forum and to have both of them together may make it hard to distinguish which posts theyre actually interested in reading!!

i find its like that now! the dj producer forum is really vague as to what gets posted in there....

and the tunes and reviews is full of stuff that should be in the djs and producers bit... its silly

To be honest I think the production stuff needs to be seperated out and if anything has its own dedicated section on the site. I'm going through a brainstorming sessions with a few guys about the site design / templates - will take this stuff into condieration. We tend to just use the forums as a 'dumping' ground sometimes and things such as mixes/new tunes dont get high enough exposure. Forums are great for feedback etc.. but not good enough for giving key things high enough exposure. We have the same problem with certain events - everyone wnats them sticky and we end up with a stupid amount of sticky posts - again - some of the 'key' nights need their own pages with proper meet up details on etc..

all being looked at but all taking a long time to do due to our other work commitments. banghead.gif

AGREED

this is why we need to restructure and to have mods who enforce rules / keep it tidy (no pun intended lol)

It isnt a case of what harm it would do, its a case of do we need this? and in my opinion and from lookin at how ctw has been since way back last year - i dont think we do.... yet!! maybe in time when the vtraffic would be enough to warrant the seperation of the forums then yes fair enough but theres nothin worse than a forum with fook all in it!!

If u want a place to post ur productions why not sweet talk creamy into lettin u have the creamyc forum as the modular1 forum!! shrug.gifsmile.gif

1 unless its there to use it will not attract users so it will never get a chance to happen

2 it wouldnt be empty once people have posted their tunes in there.. granted it might not change dramatically, but the more a tune evolves and gathers interest more people will get to hear it and comment on it... the producer gets a chance to get lots of feedback on it

3 this isnt about my tunes.. i get all the feedback i need from tranceaddict.com (ANOTHER SITE!!!!! is this a good thing?)

But it will be there, just merged with djing mixes until the time comes to warrant the separation!! Others could think think theres no point in posting in it cos it isnt busy enough to bother too, that could work both ways u know!!

Ok, it wouldnt be empty but it wouldnt have much in it - whats the point of havin somethin like that!! It just makes too many forum and no real reasoning behind it!! Isnt it enough to have a forum for both djin and production til we NEED to separate them which is somethin that may not even happen cos if u remember clubtheworld is more about clubbing and meet ups then it is about the technical side, this is just an extra!!

3 this isnt about my tunes.. i get all the feedback i need from tranceaddict.com (ANOTHER SITE!!!!! is this a good thing?)

Well surely if u get all the feedback u need from there u wont be usin the forum much either then?? Tranceaddict is more specialised towards the music etc tho and there is enough interest in the production side of it to warrant the forum, whereas like iv said, CTW is more about clubbing and meet ups!!

To me this just seems to be about what 1 person wants and James has always said that he cant always do things for just one person on a site with over 1000!! shrug.gif

We need a moderator for this forum i think - any ideas ?????

i dont want to be a moderator cos i havent got the time.

i think you may be under the opinion that i brought the subject up for my own benefit... i was just starting a thread to get ideas for james....

i think my initial idea was very clearly structured personally and was no way intended to only benefit myself.

i dont actually care that much about it and was just saying how i think it could be improved..

calm down the pair of yous!! laugh.gif

i still reckon 1 forum for "Members' Music Work" would be good then whenever you're wanting to listen to say a mix, or a tune, then you can always go in there and find details and see what others have thought.

i don't want to speak on behalf of James because it's his site and not mine, so therefore whatever happens is in the hands of the admin... but i think if you're wanting more feedback on your tunes, then maybe a proper production collective forum is what you're after? at the end of the day we're mostly all just clubbers here and if i was producing, no offence to CTW, i'd find a forum which was full of experienced producers ready to lend some well-thought out and comprehensive advice and feedback. many of us here can't give that, simply because most of us aren't producers, which is why you get feedback from tranceaddict, because it's a dedicated forum to lovers of a particular type of music, who will be keen to lead you in the direction of producing a quality tune, and they know their stuff, i should imagine.

it's kind of like me mixing up a HH CD and going on the tidy board for feedback; i'd hardly expect to get the best and most constructive advice, even if the beats were out on every mix, i'd still probably get "yeah loved the tunes m8".

i still reckon three forums:

- one for talking about DJs, tunes and music you've heard in the clubs (at the moment you're totally right i think it's a bit vague which should go in which) from a clubber's perspective, like "oh i think that tune's great" or "what's the name of this tune"

- one for production/mixing Q&A, advice, sharing tips, etc, what equipment you use, what gear you recommend, etc

- one for showcasing your work, be it a mix, or a tune, and getting the feedback

confused.gif we wasnt talkin about moderators in this post!!

No, i dont - i just think there is no point in havin 2 seperate forums at the moment where there is no call for it yet!!

i dont actually care that much about it and was just saying how i think it could be improved..
