just to correct what Ed was saying, the last half of the word doesn't come from the verb to bake, instead it comes from cuire, the verb to cook.

 

bi, as you know from everyday English, indicates two of something.

 

hence, biscuit.

tho biscuits are not actually cooked twice!! tho probs were originally!! shrug.gif
