Destiny versus Fate

So do you think we are all guided by the hand of destiny or ruled by the twists of fate?

 

Is the life of a human pre-destined before birth or is it all so much half-chances and near misses that nothing is certain?

 

And can either destiny or fate be altered by the person affected - if not should we all just give up now and sit back an enjoy the ride?

 

Or am I talking sh1te?

I'm sorry but you make it sounds as if destiny and fate are mutually exclusive whereas they are virtually the same thing.

 

 

(see OED definitions below)

 

Fate.n

1. a. The principle, power, or agency by which, according

to certain philosophical and popular systems of belief, all

events, or some events in particular, are unalterably predetermined

from eternity. Often personified.

 

Destiny. n

I. As a fact or condition.

1. That which is destined or fated to happen; predetermined

events collectively; = fate n. 3a.

 

Therefore, sorry to say it is a pointless question.

 

Life is about making choices and seeing what happens. Fate is garbage. Shit just happens a lot of the time for no rhyme and reason. Other times it seems like it happens for a reason but that's just because amongst any number of hugely random events you can always find some sort of pattern.

I believe there are certain things that a person is to achieve while alive, whether this is determined to the persons "sprit" or by a higher powerful being is anybodys guess.

 

I believe that there are many different paths that a person can take in a lifetime to work towards these goals. The paths that are chosen are made by the individual...

 

Some people believe that as you progress through life you have a spirit guide, who helps you in making these choices, but I havent quite made up my mind on that yet. unsure.gif

There is only one possible outcome to a decision.

 

Nothing is random (random not being that random).

 

Everything is determined by actions taken in the past, which in turn were based on actions in the past...

Excellent stuff.....all valid points explained with clarity and intelligence...

 

Granted my original statement is/was lacking somewhat in thought and lost in translation from mind to screen the exact essence of what I was trying to express...

 

I think I shall go now and have a nice lie down in a dark room...
