i think everys point is that this isn't a text message, so there's no need to use text short hand scratchchin.gif

theres also no need 2 use proper english...

yeah i know hev especially takes it 2 far but just learn 2 deal with it like creamys sarcasm!

In my opinion, there's every need to use proper English. In 20 years time, the English language as we know it will be extinct and everyone will be walking around talking like a disfuctional, dyslexic, stuttering Speak & Spell machine ... and it'll all be your fault! (not you personally, but the youth of today in general)

Uneducated idiots.

Ok then Mr clever clogs, I can use the correct English language just as well as anyone else on here. Do you honestly think I write like that at college or in my exams? Do you think I got an A in English Lit GCSE and a B in Language because I wrote in the exams like I do on this board? The point being that there is no need to use formal and correct English on a message board, not only does it take too long to type but it does my head in and reminds me too much of college!

Everyone who writes like that (including raver_baby and baby_rabit [well maybe not baby_rabit - sorry heather!]) can also write in correct English it's just for reasons of speed and whatever else we choose not to!

Also I know the post wasn't aimed at me personally, I'm just sticking up for everyone who chooses to use shorthand rather than a formal style of writing!

And so for the first time we can actually see two different generations and the way they communicate in cyberspace. Fascinating.

It's an age thing RB69. That's all.

Don, I don't think it's an age thing as such... I'm 22. I tend to write in full words in text messages too, and only shorten where I have to due to lack of space.

I don't mind people using short hand, but it can hurt your head trying to decipher everyone's own unique version of it, and if there's more than a few lines then it becomes a complete nightmare! At least in a text message you've only got a couple of hundred characters.

You don't have to be formal and use proper English - it does help to write words in full though - or even use just a few obvious abreviations (tho for though, for example)... I suppose it's up to each individual at the end of the day, but it can be annoying!

Okay Missy, you should be quite proficient with a dictionary, what with being such a clever girl and all, so may i suggest you look up the word "sarcasm", and the term "Sense of humour".
