Trance VS HH

My favourite HH tune at the moment is 'Happen' Glynn Tolley pres All Boxed In (Rob Tissera Mix) it's bouncy hard rather than hard hard... As for Trance, there are loads of tunes i like, but can't name them...

Spot on, is there any quality trance tracks - or any other for that matter - that Hard House hasn't kicked the [censored] out of?

 

I do believe its running out of ideas so they kill quality tracks. All i hear these days is a poxy mix of something that sounds a bag of rat [censored].

Thank you! I was going to continue my anti-hard-house rant but you've summed the matter up very concisely.

 

That said I do like, ooh, 1% of hard house - I'm not against it in principle - but I'd rather listen to bloody Christina Aguilera than some half-assed derivative heard-it-all-before-about-five-years-ago hard house. All HH has done over the last couple of years is scavenge all the worst cliches from each other music genre, water it down so that simpletons can understand it, and crank the BPM up so that it appeals to people who are off their faces. And if I hear one more hoover...

Like I said before though, too many people didnt know about the scene prior to the last 3-4 years, and so 'hardhouse' is now the name given to happy hardcore thats slowed down to 150bpm....

Yeah, you're right, but then I'd go to Hardcore events if they could lose the MC's... Until then it's not worth it as i'd get too wound up with some cunt spoiling the music...

 

Hard House is starting to get bouncy again thank [censored]... It went through a real [censored] stage of being way too dirty...

 

Oh yeah, and i've been clubbing since 92, I used to love Acid House and Happy Hardcore...

 

I also like Techno, but only when it's hard and funky aka Jeff Mills etc...

I do like Hard House although it aint my main thing but I cannot stand half-arsed cover versions.

My pet hates are:

 

* music which is too fast (you can ruin a good tune by playing it too fast, hard house & techno included)

* music which has no funk (hard music should be funky and bouncy too)

* music with totally cliched sounds - you know, the same old trance synths, hard house hoovers and filtered disco riffs

* the Cheddar Factor - I can cope with good trance as long as it's not all fluffy major chords and some happy clappy bird going "ooooohhhhh"...

By Happy Hardcore I am talking about what most of the youngsters on here would call Old Skool...

Correct me if I'm wrong: I thought "old school" was your acid house type stuff and early techno (Prodigy etc) with a mixture of house beats and breakbeats.

 

I think of happy hardcore as cheesy melodic 180bpm hard house!

Old school is a mixture of both styles... There is a lot of Happy Hardcore that gets played as 'old school'
