CTW Members Lil_Zippy Posted June 1, 2003 Author CTW Members Share Posted June 1, 2003 Well it wasnt free was it? For everyone who had to drive to manchester and Q for ages. And for those people who won their tickets. And for people who had to go out of thier way to get tickets delivered to thier mates in time and get everone organised. And then for every fooker who didnt realise till they got there, after having spent [censored] loads on transport and the rest. It always fooking rains at this time of year, dumb fook who didnt realise that. I wouldnt of minded if I hadnt of organised my whole birthday around it. And an apology would be appreciated. You think they did a free gig out of the goodness of their hearts do you? It was publicity for themselves. Fair enough, they fooked up. It seems even huge multimillion companies are slack enough to do that too sometimes, but a little apology would have gone a long way. CTW Members Lil_Zippy Posted June 1, 2003 Author CTW Members Share Posted June 1, 2003 If your not pissed off, fair dos, dont e-mail them. But theres [censored] loads of people who are pissed off. I waited a while cuz I was expecting them to put on a replacement event instead. At the end of the day its a business and everything they do is in order to make money. Just because it was free does that mean we should just put up with their fook up? Its like someone you don't know offering to do you a favour that you really rely on and then not doing it. You'd still be pissed off.
CTW Members TomD Posted June 1, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted June 1, 2003 Lil_Zippy said: an apology would be appreciated. quoting Jason Carter, Executive of Live Events at Radio 1: "This is a massive disappointment for us, and we would like to apologise to our listeners and to all those people who were due to come to Heaton Park today." Judge Jules mentioned on his show on saturday that they're still trying to reorganise something else. you would have a right to complain if you were paying for it, but it was a free gig. nobody forced you to go. i don't really see how radio 1 "fooked up". the weather was beyond their control and short of getting a massive tent (which would have probably been rather expensive, required a licence and made the event NOT free) i don't really see what they could do about it. they didn't cancel the entire weekend, just the dance day, ffs. CTW Members Lil_Zippy Posted June 1, 2003 Author CTW Members Share Posted June 1, 2003 And did I say have a go at them? All I said was tell them what you think. All I said to them was will there be a replacement do. Cuz I've listened to the radio loads and heard nothing.
CTW Members Lil_Zippy Posted June 1, 2003 Author CTW Members Share Posted June 1, 2003 Well it cost everyone money, unless they lived right next door. And I've been listening to the radio just as much as I used to and I havent heard any apologies. Funny how they put a lot more effort into the advertising then they do to telling us its not on/apologising.

It's not aiming to make money otherwise why have a free event when they could have charged. Everyone still was paid by radio 1 and it cost them a fortune. CTW Members TomD Posted June 1, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted June 1, 2003 yes, of course more effort was put into promoting and advertising the event, because it's promoted weeks in advance; whereas the decision to pull it was only taken, what, the day before?
