Cheeky Trax!!

Admittedly, these ain't to everyone's taste, due to the rip-off element, samey baseline and all round cheesyness, but some have these have been quality!

I've just heard 21 and it's got "I Need Your Lovin" on one side, and a bootleg of "Insomnia" with the vocals of Adina Howard's "Freak" over it, and in my opinion is pukka if you don't take it serious!

I'M HUNGRY!

would need more then a pinch yawn.gif

Its the sorta stuff people take the piss out of the hard dance scene for - degrades everything people have actually tried to make by shamelessly ripping peoples hardwork off and passing it off as their own eviltongue.gif

I take my music more seriously than anyone I know, thank you, but is it not good to have a laugh sometimes? I think it's pathetic the snobbery that goes on in dance music, and Hard House - unless music is "serious", you don't listen to it? Bouncy stuff is a welcome change, and while I can appreciate stuff like this is not well made, I feel it IS good to dance to.

Unlike many people, I don't just go with what everyone else likes, and actually have my own opninions, and voice them.

And before you start going on, no I don't play 'cheesy [censored]' all the time, I play right accross the board, depending on what time/ what the crowd are like/ the music policy, but just enjoy silly stuff sometimes.

The point is, these sorta tunes are killing the scene off - producers who work their arses off to make a living through their love of music end up seeing white labels appearing which took all of 5 minutes and a copy of soundforge to lift the riff/vocal and plant it over a basic kick-bass-kick-base pattern.....

Its taking money away from the people who deserve to earn it and is one of the reasons Eufex left the scene (although he is gonna start producing again!)... If it continues, there isnt gonna BE anyone left to make tunes....

Would you rather have fun and no new music, or innovative tracks that you can still have fun dancing to, which help keep the scene fresh???

I understand where you are coming from Chris, and agree that some producers aren't getting the recognition they deserve, but wasn't Hard House origionaly music you had fun to?

Now, certain people in the scene have their heads stuck up their arses, so the scene is 'taken seriously', which I believe is a knock on effect of media criticism.

At the end of the day, can we not the whole spectrum of Hard Dance, from bouncy and funky, to euphoric or trancey?

Or does it have to limit itself like it did when the UK Hard Trance got really popular, and you were unable to find a decent Hard House tune, as most producers had jumped on the Hard Trance bandwagon, because that's where the money was?

When I go out, I want to hear a variety of different styles of Hard Dance (if I'm at a Hard House night), rather than all the big DJ's playing the same tunes, and hearing Hostile, for example, 4 times in one night?

But then when trying to get gigs, you try and put something a bit different on a demo, and promoters don't like it, so you have to stick to playing what everyone else is, so for many up-and-coming DJ's it's a vicious circle, but the estabished names can get away with it!

[censored] me, my fingers are aching now! grin.gif

We have 2 different definitions of hardhouse though...

To me, hardhouse is, and always will be, 135-145bpm tribal house that the likes of Steve Thomas, Pete Wardman, Dave Randall and Alan Thompson used to play... the 150bpm hardhouse that the likes of Ingo etc. created, to me, is just slowed down happy hardcore.... Once that arrived, I shifted largely to acid trance..

HOWEVER, there are some of the newer hardhouse (ie, without the bouncy stuff involved) that im liking - its starting to have some thought and feeling put back into it!!

Exactly.... Despite having my Tidy Weekender 3 set being listed above the likes of Paul Glazby, Andy Farley, Ian M, Lee Haslam etc. in the "Top 10 Moments" section on Tidys website (www.tidy.com/weekender3), I have not had a single booking since I played TW3.... The only reason I can see for this, is that my demos/sets are largely made up of slightly obscure/unknown tracks (sometimes the stuff I play is best part of a decade old!) which doesnt always have mass appeal until its actually played in a club...

Despite this, I would rather struggle for sets then force myself to play stuff that I dont have 100% faith in - its pretty stupid really, but im a pretty stubborn person and would much rather be known for 'sticking to my guns' in the long run rather then try taking shortcuts by genre-hopping.....

Hard House is already ruined with the countless amount of covers that have been out recently.
