Dress codes are usually to keep numbers down in a club. The dress code is often relaxed when there isn't a full capacity crowd in a club, the less people in the more you can get away with (clothing wise).

I don't do much on this planet, but David Blaine has taught me that I could do less!!

precisely, which makes a mockery of the whole dress code system !

I just cant stand these ridiculous 'filtering rules', surely it should just be first come, first served ?

This would be a better way of doing things.

o, and another thing which REALLY pisses me off are the popular bars who think they are so popular they have to keep 40 odd people queing outside un-necessarily...

I was up Yates', Milton Keynes the other weekend and we were kept queing for just over an hour in the rain - we figured it was worth it as it MUST be really busy in there... only to find out when we did eventually get in it was dead!!!!!! banghead.gif

Arrgh! A lot of that [censored] comes down to bouncers on power-trips.

My pet hate is barmen who blatantly serve fit women before blokes who were blatantly at the bar first. It's like, they're not going to shag you for serving them first, you sad [censored]!

You will notice that the REAL classy bars/clubs dont have a dress code.

exactly. but on the other hand i'd say that i really can't be arsed with "classy" places. generally devoid of atmosphere, just full of posers, places which make you feel too self-conscious. at the top end you've got the classiest places, which have no dress code, then the next level down you've got the places which *wish* they were classy but actually aren't, and so to try and keep scum out they enforce a dress code, but that just ends up attracting pikeys and so makes it [censored]. then at the bottom of the pile you've got the dirty places which don't have a dress code and they don't give a [censored]. and cos it's dirty and a bit old, no scum. success.

given a choice between some "classy" bar and a dirty pub i choose a pub any day. cheap drinks and no smug service.

I still cant understand why some pubs have dress codes...I mean, its a fookin pub, invented for anyone to go in and have a few drinks with friends.

So what if you're wearing a pair of dirty jeans and a manky pair of trainers...you might have just finished work.

I don't really care much for dress codes... Just pisses me off. Everyone should be able to wear what they want to and what they feel comfortable in....

Personally, I'm a jeans, t-shirt and trainers man. Much more comfortable when going out for 9/10/11/12+ hours of stomping... Generally the trainers I buy aren't "sporty" - I used to buy classics. Trainers I buy now for clubbing (and generally only ever worn when I go clubbing) are rock climbing/fell running trainers. They're reflective, have good mixture of blues/greys/yellows/reds, good grip on the bottom, allow very good air circulation and are as comfy as slippers.

Ocassionally I'll do cyber. Very rarely, I'll let mates convince me to go to somewhere with a dress code. But even then, because it's usually (not always) pretty crappy and pikey, we'll end up leaving and going somewhere more relaxed, harder and dirtier. And with no dress code.

no dress code = less pikey scum.

FACT

Wrong.

no dress codes = scruffy cant be arsed tramps.

wrong again - no dress code = no pretentious bastards who care about what they're wearing more than the way they're acting.

but a tramp in edinburgh would look positively majestic in the backdrop of london. kiss my feet.

Well said my friend. Scottish tramps lend an air of sophistication to the title tramp. Buckfast IS wine after all.
