btw - would ur record company object to u uploading 1 or 2 min streamable samplers as they r nuffin more than a promotional tool used to push more record out

probally not, i'll ask them.

you lot also need to understand that im on a 56k connection which only connects at 28.8 or sometimes 14.4!! so alot of the time i just can't be arsed waiting for it to upload banghead.gif

DJ E,

My advice is: be careful what you sign. Particularly in the dance music industry, exclusive contracts are unusual unless you make it big time (i.e. multi-album deals). So be wary of any label that tells you what you can and can't do like this!

I've got an article lying around somewhere with advice on what to check in a music contract. Will let you know when I find it. thumbs.gif

Look forward to hearing your work! Keep us posted.

mark, just upload a selection of your tracks in mp3. complete tracks, full quality. i've never signed a record deal in my life but common sense tells me that nobody can stop you putting your own original work on the net for everyone to hear. if whoever you've signed with now owns the entire rights to your 40-album back catalogue then i really will eat my words. i don't believe that.

if you've got a problem with hosting or bandwidth for your tracks or whatever, then i'm sure there'll be someone on here who'll offer to stick them on their web space temporarily for us all to listen. or you could stick them on mp3.com, peoplesound, vitaminic, bbc onemusic, the list is endless.

we want to hear your stuff, but you're making it pretty difficult for us to do so.

btw when is your record out in the States and what's it called? any remixes?

Since i joined the board, ive never really posted threads about my productions up until recently when i changed direction and wanted feedback on my 1st propper house productions.

But for you to post a thread like you did, it was bound to attract attention. And it has done just that. Now ive had a few dealings in the music industry, and know a wee bit. But it seems to me that for someone who has so much experience producing, and getting tracks signed, you know very little about what you can and cant do with your own tunes. I know if it were my tracks i would want to know exactly where i stood.

Look mate, personally im not trying to make you look like a knob. But this thread has raised some questions that im curious about.

it is, just cause they explain it, dont mean i understand it. after all im new to this, starting right in the deep end instead of studying even the basic understandings of it all

Eclipse productions? where are they based then? cant find a lot on the web apart from a weddings company..

i find it real odd that you havent sent stuff to the obvious trance labels over here and in europe cos most stuff that comes out in america originates over here, and get licenced to labels over there.. either that or it just gets imported and sold that way...
