CTW Members rachel Posted June 25, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted June 25, 2003 Oh dear!!!! I've been out in my dad's car tonight & i've had a bit of an accident I managed to reverse it into a post It now has a dent in the back of it. I came home & showed him straight away. He didn't get too mad with me, but he knows he doesn't need to because just me having to tell him is hard enough. i feel terrible about it. He reckons it'll cost about £2000 to get it fixed. I feel sooo guilty

CTW Members rachel Posted June 25, 2003 Author CTW Members Share Posted June 25, 2003 Yeah i'm fine. Just feel really bad about it. And i don't have the money to pay for it. When i told him he said he expects me to come home & tell him this has happened every time i go out in the car. I'm sticking to my car from now on. I don't know anything about fixing cars, but i don't think it'll cost that much. I think he was going a tad over the top when he said that. It'll need a new panel at the back ?!?!?!?!?!?!?! I was hoping that someone would question me when i said £2000, cos i really don't want it to cost that much.
Guest
It will not cost that much. But make sure and shop around and get estimates from different garages. Is the dent that big that its beyond repair? Will you deffo need a new panel? My girlfriend done the same about 6 months ago and i just got the dent "beaten" out and resprayed.
CTW Members rachel Posted June 25, 2003 Author CTW Members Share Posted June 25, 2003 No i don't think it can be beaten out. We know someone who should be able to get us a good price. I've only driven the car about 10 times. I've only recently been put on the insurance ( when i turned 25 in March) i don' think it would have been so bad if it was a big smash that couldn't have been helped, but for me to do something stupid like hit a post is just so unnecessary

(i've taken out wing mirrors) whatever the figure most it will be labour. (i had a high speed rear shunt which meant my entire tailgate had to be replaced -- their ins. paid 4 it luckily, altho long story (first thought? are my 6x9's ok)) he might be able to wangle it and say he had the crunch, in which case his excess might be lower to get it fixed if he wants to touch the insurance. or you could have some lovely dad-daughter sunday afternoons where u've got an overall on in the garage with a hammer bashing out a new bumper from a metal sheet flipping heck rach and i was breathing easily on sunday
