Fact Fruity as a stand alone package is inferior.

but thats not how it sells itself.

which re-fill has the power of Vaz or Reaktor then? Please tell me.. im all ears.

Fuck knows but I do know that if you want a synth sound replicating a piece of Hardware out there if you look you can find it. Anyway, whatever software you use you can find your own ways of achieving the sound you want be it Fruity or Reason. Airbase one of the the most in demand Trance producer at the moment with record deals on Armarda, Platipus, Afterglow, JOOF, Alphabetcity, Mondo has had no problems without the "vital" plug ins has he?

missing my point m8.

and airbase uses Reason and Cubase together, so he can use any VST he likes.

If Reason is so standalone amazing... How come this professional producer requires Cubase in his setup??

^ quite.

From my experience, there is no one program that does EVERYTHING, straight out-of-the-box, that I would want to do.

Personally I swear by a combination of Fruityloops, Cubase SX, and an array of VST plugins.

I've just bought a bundle of Native Instruments plugins, and I would be frankly AMAZED if you could replicate some of that stuff in Reason, but I'm no Reason expert so I'm all ears.

LTM, your style of argument about how can make wicked tunes with X can just as easily work against you as for you.

I do take on board some of your specific comments about limitations of various programs.

But you come across as a Reason-zealot who can't accept that maybe there are alternatives to the way YOU do things...? Have you actually ever tried any good VST instruments or are you just ASSUMING that you can get whatever you want for Reason?

I don't doubt that there are some good plugins for Reason, but you seem to be in denial of the fact that NOT supporting VSTi's is a SERIOUS limitation!!!

You're not gonna convert anyone to your cause by being so one-sided...

In all fairness I'm not the only one siding with their software of choice thankyou. And I'm sorry but the disadvantage of not having vsti support really is not that much of a big matter. It will only be a matter if a producer who has made his tunes in the past with a lot of vsti help, who decides for some reason to move to er... Reason. Within Reason you are capable of making anything, it's just a different style of producing, it's no disadvantage at all. And you never know, Reason 3...3.5...4 could see the addition of vsti support and then it really shall wipe the floor.

then they can add solid audio playback/editing support too...

then you will have the biggest piece of overcomplicated thrown together software in the world.

its a messy pile of crap.

Jezper Sodurland aka Airbase made his earliest tunes like Emotion, Genie, and most noticably The Rock solely on Reason. I know this because I'm part of Trance.nu which Jezper runs and have been following his progress for 3 years. He has started using Cubase with Reason now.

Fruityloops reminds me of Music 2000 with it's simpleness.

Reason is quite complicated you know but like any software with a bit of practice it becomes second language. Another thing I love about Reason is the brilliance of the automation capabilities which I feel are rather limited on Fruity (minus vsti support of course).

pretty bog standard to what logic offers...

logic is 10 times the prog that reason is... and its far less over complex.

simplicity can be a good thing if you ask me... it lets you concentrate on writing music than fking around with a retarded interface

Well no not really, altho there in no arguing against how Logic is definitely the better software. This is Reason vs Fruity don't you know?
