I would say only about 3 people on the site actually 'know me, know me' - most of the members i talk to i talk about music/clubbing/it - it takes a heck of a lot more than that to really 'know' someone smile.gif You have to basically be able to predict with accuracy what they would do in ANY given situation - my 'reading of people' is getting quite advanced now but its still a delicate art smile.gif I wish they did a course on this sort of stuff ! lol

Totally - its the same with me. What you see is what you get with me, so if you've known me for a bit and you've clicked (which I have with a lot of people on here) then you'll see what I'm like from early on.

But for me, it's all about gaining trust. Once you have mine, then little by little you'll get to know me better and better, but that's what it's all about.

You seem ok to me mate.... so far wink.gif

Correctomondo ...

Where most go wrong is to give up and somehow get bewildered as to 'what the [censored] went wrong?', negative vibes then set in and they even start questioning their own thought processes.

And this is part of the ball game. You need to dig out the problems and justify them and make things better next time.

The fact is as Maria states EVERYTHING needs to be put down to experience - if you can accept up-front that there are going to be major cockups and yes YOU are going to have to handle them tactfully then achieving the (long term) end goal is very very possible.

As a promoter you have to expect "cock ups" and when they do arise you have to deal with them and get to the root of the "cock up" and be quick and thoughtfull on how to ammend the problem and make sure it doesn't arise again. Again, you chose to be in this ball game and you have to be able to accept there is going to be some hard work put in to solve these minor issues.

Far too many people give up far too early, or are lazy or just dont plan things properly. There are no quick wins in anything.

Promoters, as such, need to ask themselves b4 deciding to go ahead with promoting a night for like minded clubbers "do I really want to do this? Will I be prepared to solve any minor/big issues? Will I fall down or will I still be standing at the end of it all? This isn't sumthing you can start and then "[censored] it off" because you cant be BOTHERED. If you waste ppl's time, then you don't stand a chance of trying to make it big again. IMO.

I have the upmost respect for what gary set out to do and I believe he could possibly be very successful one day but he shouldnt be running away from the problem or blaming others - he should be dealing with it.

Bingo.

If you perceive and believe then you can achieve (this is what I contintually swear by - and its working both in work and personal projects)

thanks hunny - is this why some people see me as ignorant when im out or difficult to approach? Have never really got to the bottom of that one yet confused.gif

Well at the end of the day Sarah, you are making ppl happy. You are putting together a night, for clubbers, to have a good time.

Iv gone past the stage of watching ppl slag you off for putting so much hard work into club nights, after reading this thread and putting in MY personal opinion, (to which im really [censored] [censored] at explaing myself and that is WHY I havn't replied to your thread in the serious issues, as id merely say what everyone else has said, so don't think i have ignored it because I have been reading it and taking in everyones opinions) Iv suddenly realised, that ppl who slag you (or if ppl were to slag me) just to ignore it. Why should ANYONE be slagged of for thriving off hard work? Don;t let other ppl bring you down off sumthing you have your heart set on. You are more or less doing this kinda thing on your own at the end of the day. I think you deserve alot of respect IMO.

And I dont care if my opinion on this post means [censored] to anyone, or out of term etc etc I dont really geta chance to put my point across coz im [censored] CRAP at explaining myself, im better in person for this kinda thing.

Hope it makes sense tho Sarah smile.gif

But then there is a first time for everything isn't there?

Obviously things didn't go to plan for Obliteration, but maybe then as things didn't go to plan, he gathered what was right and what was wrong, thus putting on the night in ibiza (which clearly didn't happen).

As they say, you learn from your mistakes etc etc

Oh .... yeah. Elly and Tommy are home tommrrow. Oh to that as well. I agree that things [censored] up and you learn from your mistakes but when someone just does one with no explanation leaving everyone else in the lurch then thats good is it ?

I'm not being funny, but didn't it occur to the people that went over to work for him that it could go tits-up ?

I mean, come on, giving up everything and going to Ibiza to work for a bloke that you've met once/twice/never ? Did it not all sound to good to be true ? Especially after the Obliteration fiasco. rolleyes.gif

Do people not put a bit more thought into decisions like this normally ? shrug.gif
