personally i don't give a toss if he's british or not. the competition's about who's good at tennis, not what country they come from.

there's only all this anti-henman shite because there's too much mindless pro-henman shite. tim can suck my balls

Who gives a [censored] if he wins or loses...OK, good luck to him but I dont personally care if Mr. Henman gets beaten. It wont change my life either way.

Its only a fookin game anyway.

He he yet another 'joke' thread goes serious! I agree with everything you've just said Jon up to the bit about US patriotism. I regard such high patriotism as a bad thing, don't think its done America any favours with regard to the way the world views them. It just encourages xenophobic views imo wink.gif

interesting. patriotism is a very interesting thing.

maybe this should be over in the serious zone but why should anybody be 'proud' of where they're from. you just happened to be born there.

so many senseless acts of violence are committed in the name of patriotism. england has something of a repuation - in good ways and bad - for being a very patriotic country.

why do people wrap themselves in a flag and sing songs about how great their country is when they could so easily have been born anywhere?

INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION

we support our country or its sporting representatives when they face competion from other countrys or their representatives, it allows us a kind of weird 'bragging rights' and makes the country as a whole feel as one. everyone pulls together and and has a sense of togetherness, it makes people feel they belong together and good

how great must the country as a whole have felt when england won the world cup? it was mint when we beat the Argies in 2002, everyone was happy
