Good for them. But you can't deny that a lot of people (both male and female) get into DJing because it's trendy. I think Laurence's point is, it's naive to think that the "trendiness" of being a DJ has not been a factor in encouraging more female DJs. Personally I would argue that it has equally encouraged male DJs, which Laurence did not deny.

CTW Promotors Lisa Posted July 8, 2003 CTW Promotors Share Posted July 8, 2003 LiamStyles said: Right Ive just read the whole post and have to say I really do not know what Blink and Happy are making such a fuss about. Is it not a good thing that he is giving new talent a go in the 1st place? He said he gets demos off blokes already but wants to give female DJs a chance aswell. This doesnt mean that men cant send in demos aswell surely. The way i see it is its a post to grab he attention of the female DJs on CTW and maybe they'll think "Hey I didnt know he was deffo looking for female DJs, I'll give him a shout" But more to the point, Its his night and he can do whatever the [censored] he wants! Are you not worried that black people are under-represented in house music? Can't you see Blink's point? Notice nobody actually responds to the intelligent, coherent point that some of us are making. LiamStyles said: But more to the point, Its his night and he can do whatever the [censored] he wants! So if he wanted to run a night that banned black people, that would be OK? Luke, at the end of the day, I am not having a go at you, I just thought it was odd advertising specifically for female DJ's, and was trying to point out the plenty of people would have had a go at you if you had say, just advertised for WHITE DJ's, and no doubt all the girls would have got upset if you had just advertised for MALE DJ's. CTW Members Claire DC Posted July 8, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted July 8, 2003 i see what ur saying blink and in any other kinda discrimination case like rascism etc i would fully agree because its out of order, but he didnt ask for a white dj or for no black people to be allowed in his club or anythin, just a femaile dj to tie in with his plans for his night!! I think the point ur tryin to get across is a valid one, but not for this case.... trying to word this correctly so u understand what i mean but probably failing miserably, what im tryin to say is i can see both arguments but theyre coming from different points. I personally, like miss diddy, babyred and liam styles, didnt see a problem with this post that he has done when i read it, like miss diddy, babyred and liam styles but hey we all have our opinions dont we Quote You Can Never Have Too Much Of A Good Thing It'd Be Rude Not 2!! *I Need A Tissue* MSN: Claire___DC @hotmail.com Email: clairedc @ dsl .pipex .com

Luke, you will probably find that your post has get far more reads now, so more people will be aware of it, and will be telling their female DJ friends that you are on the look out for DJ's At the end of the day, I was just raising an issue, I hope your night goes well [And hey, if it is any good, I may have to come along..I like a bit of Hard Trance]

Yourself and Laurance are the only two that have had any problems with the original post, and yet neither of you would even be sending him a demo if he was looking for male DJs. You've made your point, we'll agree to disagree, let it rest.

I have got a BTEC 1st in aeronaughtical engineering & i did an apprenticeship in airframe/engine engineering & i certainly didnt do that coz it was trendy, i did it coz i was bloody good at it! Please stop all this sexist crap coz it is really winding me up & you are talkin out of your arse! Men & women are capable of doing anything, if you put your mind to it you can achieve anything! & sexism is only alive in minds like yours! i wsnt being sexist. i never said men were more technical than women or that women on DJ cuz its trendy. i simply said that its my observation that technical hobbies tend to be male orientated. just as beauty related jobs tend to be female oriented. which imo is true. the good thing about DJing becomming trendy is that its no longer so technical so it dont have the same stigma(is that the right word) or sweaty fat men hunched over an antique sampler and an atari. theres magazines out there explaining in laymans terms how to set up basic sound systems and shops r catering for a wider DJing market so natrally its gonna appeal to people who wouldnt have considered it orginally Quote Mr Happy's fishy fish MangaFish munch munch MSN & e-mail - mangafish@mangafish.net AOL - MangaMorgan Online mixes - http://www.mangafish.net/mixes/
CTW Members LiquidEyes Posted July 8, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted July 8, 2003 Sorry Babyred, I didn't realise that it was okay to be sexist or racist in the music forums, nor that you are only allowed to challenge somebody's opinion in the serious issues forum. In future I'll make a mental note to come straight here when I want to make an offensive or bigoted comment.
