I've played with the DJM series and I thought there were top-notch mixers. My only beef with them was that they can't take a lot of wear and tear. It seems like anywhere I play where there is a DJM-500 or 600, the knobs and faders are all breaking as well as the outlets.

I originally chose the PCV-275 because I already owned a FX processor, and I did not want to chuck it. I liked how it had the 3-band EQs as well as a nice effects send and return system. When I hooked up my FX processor, I felt like I had all the power of a DJM mixer, but at a LOT lower price. I also like how the fader is very solid and durable, although the ability to change the curve would have been nice.

I also liked how everything is METAL on that mixer. The knobs, faders, switches, everything. I also liked the kill switches a LOT. You would be surprised how well it can cut the bass but maintain the mid-range. Very cool. I can't stand how a lot of the new mixers have the kill work when you move the EQ knob to 0. It just does not work that well compared to some nice kill switches.

So here's how I would put it. If you purchased a DJM-500 or 600, you'll end up spending over a grand. However, if you purchase a PCV-275, and an Alesis Inexo, you pretty much have the same power as a 600 (minus the sampler) and only pay roughly $500-$600!
