We're going to try and get the site switched over to the new server tonight and so the site could be unavailable for an hour or so depending on how smooth the final changeover goes.

 

What you will probably see is a password-protected site for a short while, whilst I get all the latest forum data moved across.

 

Please bare with me ! Hopefully we wont be changing servers again for a while !

 

If you have any major issues connecting to the new site when its up please email me on James@ClubTheWorld.uk - or just speak to me on MSN Messenger, sometimes these things dont go as smoothly as planned but I dont foresee any major problems as all the tests so far have been ok. What we haven't tested yet is the impact on the server in peak rates - but we'll cross that bridge as and when we come to it - if at all.

the sites loading as quick as i click the link so all in all i'm impressed

seems a little slower for me at the mo but not much slower. entrance is quite slow as well but bukey is looking into that

its deffo quicker on my 2meg line.

acutally its just drastically increased in speed and at least as quick as the old box now, if not quicker. nice one bukes!

Just as James gone to bed, the actual "main" part of the site has switched over for Blueyonder.... (The forums themselves had, as had mail, ftp, gallery, in fact everything except the main www.... But that's all switched now).

 

It did take slightly longer than an hour, but that's because of a special DNS setup in place previously adding extra steps.

 

The site will get faster (a bit) too, as a full DNS propogation happens in the coming 24 - 72 hours.

 

But a nice clean switch, overall.

 

And it's faster on my 2 Meg link too... And that's no just a biased view.

 

I'm looking at the speed of the "Entrance" when uncached... It was a problem preiviously, but I'm finding answers to that too... Once the Entrance has been loaded for you the first time, you should find it a bit quicker there on in.
