98 Boot Disk won't work cause it can't read NTFS drives.

i'm not 100% sure but, if i understand your situation correctly, you probably need something like:

it seems to be freeware. you'll need to make the bootable disk using another PC, i guess.

While the machines booting up press F8 or F5. then you'll get an options list thumbs.gif

Exactly.....all you need to do is press F8 just before it boots up and you'll be able to go into safe mode, change/configure most of your files, insert a new boot disk to solve the problem...etc...etc.

if only it were this simple i'd have fixed it by now, but sadly it isn't. It won't boot in safe mode, or any other mode, gets to the windows XP screen with the bar moving along under the XP logo and then goes blank, if i try booting in safe mode it scrolls thru a few files then stops halfway thru, same happens if i try booting with last working settings

well if you have another pc why don't you just make that hdd for your sisters into a slave on another pc (which i'm assuming you do) and copy the files that way. That way you're not loading the OS files and jobs and goodun, simple as pie!!
