CTW Members Dawn Posted September 1, 2003 Author CTW Members Share Posted September 1, 2003 Right i'll try and put this so that even I might beable to understand it The only difference that I can see between the computer that has crashed on me and this one is This one is xp and uses an ethernet to connect from the cable modem to the pc where as the other was windows me and used a usb port to connect other than that the size of memory and whatever is the same. Claire I have got norton on this one but haven't tried anything with it yet but i'll give it a go thanks Quote 👶
CTW Members Mr Happy Posted September 1, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted September 1, 2003 ahhhh. the memory on the windows XP might be too small to run the net @ ne great speed. broadband does come with a minimum spec (fuk knows y) and windows XP does use up a hell of a lot of system resources. CTW Members Dawn Posted September 2, 2003 Author CTW Members Share Posted September 2, 2003 Thank you for that, but honestly I AM on broadband The 56 is just printed on the front of the hard drive box i've no idea what it is or why it is there This is what i'm trying to say i've the same internet connection with both pc's but this one is taking about 2 minutes to load a new page each time and its really frustrating. There was no virus Quote 👶
CTW Members slapmatt Posted September 2, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted September 2, 2003 To test the speed of your internet connection go to: http://www.zdnet.co.uk/misc/band-test/speedtest.html You need to hit refresh a few times to get a average though. If your broadband is working correctly you should get speeds of around 400-450 Kbps. The other reason that pages can take ages to load is if Internet Explorer is buggered. You could try re-installing that. Quote It's so wrong, yet it's so right.
