1st problem:

Last night I may or may not have done something to my computer.

Yes I deleted a couple of folders, but i'm sure nothing of any importance was in them.

Today when trying to start my computer an explorer ex in browser (or something of the sort) came up and the computer would not load anything what so ever, couldn't scan disk, restore, nowt ... any ideas

2nd problem:

I'm on my 2nd pc

It is so so slow at loading the pages grrrrrrrrr ... same make up so to speak 56 what evers but the old one was on windows me and this one is xp, the old one usb port this one ethernet ... any ideas

Right i'll try and put this so that even I might beable to understand it laugh.gif

The only difference that I can see between the computer that has crashed on me and this one is

This one is xp and uses an ethernet to connect from the cable modem to the pc where as the other was windows me and used a usb port to connect other than that the size of memory and whatever laugh.gif is the same.

Claire I have got norton on this one but haven't tried anything with it yet but i'll give it a go thanks thumbs.gif

ahhhh. the memory on the windows XP might be too small to run the net @ ne great speed.

broadband does come with a minimum spec (fuk knows y) and windows XP does use up a hell of a lot of system resources.

Thank you for that, but honestly I AM on broadband

The 56 is just printed on the front of the hard drive box i've no idea what it is or why it is there cry.gif

This is what i'm trying to say i've the same internet connection with both pc's but this one is taking about 2 minutes to load a new page each time frown.gif and its really frustrating.

There was no virus

To test the speed of your internet connection go to:

http://www.zdnet.co.uk/misc/band-test/speedtest.html

You need to hit refresh a few times to get a average though. If your broadband is working correctly you should get speeds of around 400-450 Kbps.

The other reason that pages can take ages to load is if Internet Explorer is buggered. You could try re-installing that.

It's so wrong, yet it's so right.
