  is a HTML formatting code for a space. its how you get multiple spaces in webpages.

 

i wanted to put some ASCII art in my sig but couldnt due to the board converting the ampersand character to '&'

still changes the '&' to '&'

Why not fill the space with a character and then try to change its colour to the same as the board using the "ff00aa" type of colour things? It might not work on other peoples screens who have a different skin but it will on yours.
