FAO The Smile DJs....A question....

I have been thinking about Smile often during the week, looking at the photos, reading the comments, there's something I'd like to ask you all....

 

What did it mean to you while you where up there doing your thing? What did you feel? What were you thinking through your set? etc etc ( you get the idea )

 

For me it's hard to get the words right but.......

 

Before I got behind the decks I found it hard to settle, I'm not very good at waiting. The nerves were there.....maybe not scared of playing but the nerves of wanting to do well.

 

Once I got into the DJ box this all seemed to disappear and the focus was just there. Looking out into the crowd, I could feel the vibe. I personally felt I couldn't have had a better lead into the style that I wanted to play ( nice 1 Ali and Carl for that! ) After the first couple of mixes I felt relaxed, inwardly very happy, feeling I had the dancefloor connection.

 

A few tunes in and my record sticks, nothing for it but to lift the needle off and move it over. Normally something like this would have broken the vibe, but the dancefloor kept on going. Looking out at the dancefloor brought me the warmest, happiest feeling, seeing the crowd having it to each tune you played.....Smile seemed very appropriate! Looking at some of the photos, especially Liams 'Phil B feeling the vibe' made me realise how wraped up in the music I'd become at certain times. That hour passed way too quickly, so many tunes I wanted to play but didn't have time to.

 

I really can't describe properly 'that feeling' while I'm playing, the emotion it gives me....the happiness, the smiles, the satisfaction of being able to give something back to the scene that has given me so much. I get the above feeling top to bottom each time I get to play out...I sincerely hope it never leaves me......

that imo was 1 of the things that made smile.

 

because we knew the DJs it was much more personal. u felt like u connected with the DJs though out the set. a feeling not oftern gained in a larger environment

i just did what i normally do and had a laugh whilst I was djing.....it didnt really feel that different to any other gig I have played tho

 

BUT, the night was more special cos of the social aspect of it all

I didn't mean it in the sense of was it a different feeling from any other, I was just curious as to what the djs thought/felt while they djed. Smile was just something I felt I could possibly relate to with other djs thoughts
