Search option for ANONS

I think if its possible this option should be taken off.

If someone is searching this site for reasons of no benefit to the site or its members they should at least have to join so we know there IP address and that.

just a thought

I disagree with the lot of ya!

while i see you point and agree with the principles of it, the admin can still view the IP of anom users. So where would the point be in making users sign up if they're not going to post?

also you would be penalising the regulars like myself that dont have time to log in and reason all the new messages @ work, but need to search for a quick topic. (just like i had to do today coincidently)

if it wasnt possible for admin to log anom users IP then i would agree whole heartedly, but they can so i see little point in removing the feature to them.

i'm un-decided, i think its usefull for a 'potential' new member to search and see what we're about / if we're the community for them, perhaps

having said that loads of 'anons' could slow the database down by doing un-necessary searches and never bother registering.

i will see if there is an option to turn it off - in fact what am i talking about - all i have to do is edit the un-registered menu bar template.

un-decided at the mo so i say it stays for now

Not every ip addy is traceable Laurance!!

It atkes all of 2secs to log in so what is the hardship????

every ip is traceable. i very much doubt ne1 using CTW w/o the intention of regging will have set up bounce's and the sort to hide thier IP. and by teh same logic, regestering to the site doesnt meen u can trace an IP.

Only as far as the ISP unless you've got a fixed IP address.
