The Funky House and other stuff debate

I don't think the board is being bitchy (in this particular case). This whole madders thing has dragged on and on and now he's back gracing us with his presense yet again without even bothering to address the issues he raised ON THIS BOARD a while back.

 

He comes on here (and a million other websites).

 

A big 'Cut and Paste' about how bad people have treated him

 

And then fucks off

 

Does he give 2 craps about any of the members of this board? No

I reckon that some people do want to hear what he has to say. Thats fine.

 

A simple post telling us what is happening would be ok. But coming on boards and giving dates for his "speech" is just plain [censored] egotistical.

 

His bird and her mate spent weeks winding this up on [censored], and all they recieved in return was contempt and abuse (which they thoroughly deserved).

 

If the man is so desperate for support, why does he spend so much time pissing people off?

If you would take the time to check out any of the house based boards on the net, then you would find plenty of young clubbers that are into "funky" house. Yopu must remember that it is fashionable to think you know what house music is nowadays and all the young kids are into fashion.

 

You see, if you actually were into house music, then you wouldnt be using the "fucnky" prefix because you would be aware that the so designated "funky" style is in fact pop music, and not serious dance music at all.

ive now changed my mind about the whole madders thing - its not really in any of our interest or business and its become boring. he's not a member on here is he.

re: my statement about one board for funky and one for hh - was just an 'idea' and as with all rules there are exceptions. I too love HH as much as Funky. I made this statement because its clear from the old funky members that they dont want to come on this board so much because its 'too' full of kids. we need to strike a healthy balance - its near enough impossible and the concept of 2 boards isnt something which would ever happen anyway - it was just an idea. I know the people on the Serious (cross) forums are more mature and friendlier towards each other (like we once were when we were more funky based) - i would love to have this friendly vibe back but it aint gonna happen on this site as we've gone too far down the one road. Having said that we have some ideas of how it might work in the new year but if that fails I will personally be setting up another board to cater for slightly different tastes - like a sister site to this one.

 

I'm not slagging off HH people - i am one myself, why would I - but generally its a FACT that the age groups of people into funky and hh are very different (on the whole). Serious at the cross was a good example - older age group, different dress codes, £4 a bottle - not many early twenty year olds can afford £4 a bottle.

 

Currently I think we should have color coded sections for the mainstream genres for reviews etc.. and perhaps sub-message boards - keeping them seperate so we attract BOTH age groups and people arent put off. At the moment we have youngsters put off because its all too 'serious' here and we also have older funky people put off (I could give you a list of 100 or so I know who dont come on here anymore) because they say its 'full of kids trying to prove something'. These are NOT my words - its theirs and I can see why they think that - but kids should be allowed to be kids and have fun and slate each other jokingly, but also the late 20 year olds should be able to chat more maturely etc.. this can only be done by having a couple of forums per major genre and proper/decent sections dedicated to those genres. one of the reasons we only have mostly hh reviews/photos etc is that on the whole its mostly the hh people who want to help the site out. I even had two funky people say the other day to me that they wont bother posting funky events anymore because they are ignored - these peopel are part of the problem ! I would love to post all the funky nights on myself but i'm not clued up about it, perhaps i need to be - which is why 2004 you will see me concentrating on Funky and my re-newed love for Trance. HH people shouldnt feel threatened by this - its just that we HAVE to turn this site round to be open to ALL tastes, ALL countries

i said that the hh age group is somewhat different to the funky age group - fact. that said perhaps in order to accomodate both age groups sufficiently we should have some more genre specific forums.

 

these are just 'ideas' - can someone please tell me what the problem with 'brainstorming' is ??! A lot of these ideas are formed from a vast array of comments and suggestions emailed to me or from people i have spoken to at weekly drinks etc.

I'm happy with the site. But then again, I'm an early 20's hard houser who likes a good bit of banter. I see your point though James.

When I found this site I classed it (and still do) as primarily hard house. I can see how you would want to avoid getting pidgeon-holed in order to attract a broader variety of members.

Maybe you do need more varied forums, although it obviously takes more management (mods, etc).

Well if you mean that as HH is youmg, then yeh primarily it is but remember there are alot of us oldies too, who like it
