CTW DJs Chris Hutchinson Posted November 5, 2003 CTW DJs Share Posted November 5, 2003 saw the 3rd matrix film this afternoon....what a load of [censored]! The trilogy has managed to go from groundbreaking to being more cliched then a football commentator! Quote Coming soon... 4th March 2006, VALVE SOUNDSYSTEM @ Sheffield Uni with Pendulum, Roni Size, Dillinja, Sub Focus and more!!!
CTW Members LiquidEyes Posted November 6, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted November 6, 2003 I'll second that Chris. It is absolutely wank. I just saw it. And the more I think about it, the more [censored] it was. I honestly thought it couldn't be as bad as the second one but it comes pretty close! They should have stopped after the first one (which was very very good IMHO).
CTW Members LiquidEyes Posted November 6, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted November 6, 2003 To elaborate: the film follows exactly the same formula as the second film. I.e. 1. Lots of inane, pseudo-philosophical dialogue. The scriptwriters seem to come from the school of thought that, so long as the actors speak slowly and meaningfully all the time, you can make a load of cliched old toss sound insightful. It is not in the least bit thought-provoking; it's just a re-hash of Reloaded, devoid of any significant revelations about the matrix/fate/hope/love/etc. 2. A lot of fight scenes and special effects, which seem to have little or nothing to do with the above. Even as a sequel, the film is deeply unsatisfactory. There are loads of unanswered questions. Fair enough you might say (maybe you don't want complete closure) but it makes you realise what a hodgepodge of hit-or-miss ideas the 2nd and 3rd films are. There are so many scenes over the films that have little or no significance in the "big picture". Rather optimistically, I hoped that a lot of it would come together in a cunningly intertwined fashion ... but alas. I defy anyone to tell me the film was really insightful or moving. The film is nowhere near as clever as it thinks it is. At least the special effects were pretty good... *YAWN*

CTW Members Scream Posted November 6, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted November 6, 2003 the last two have just tried to be to clever. the fact is the philosophy side to these film is total wank and extremely poor. I couldn't help but watch the film and pick it apart for the poor ability by the brothers. where did it all go wrong, well most probably in the first one they did some ground breaking fx's. they probably focused more on the effects than on the story. CTW Members neet Posted November 6, 2003 Author CTW Members Share Posted November 6, 2003 I found it entertaining, but with a large and unappealing whiff of cheese. I woudln't say it was wank though. A lot of the scenes in the dock with the APU's reminded me of star wars, but a lot darker

Thank [censored] someone agrees! It's just a load of people saying very vague, non-commital comments to each other about fate/destiny/love etc without actually revealing anything about the matrix. In fact I found most of the dialogue very condescending and pointless. neet said: I found it entertaining, but with a large and unappealing whiff of cheese. Especially the ending (with the oracle etc). And what an anti-climax / non-revelation. A lot of the scenes in the dock with the APU's reminded me of star wars, but a lot darker Agreed, those were definitely the saving grace of the film! I loved the great digging machines with legs. Although the battle scene did drag on a bit...

CTW Members Phil rr Posted November 6, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted November 6, 2003 is Ross the Radio 1 film reviewer? never taken any notice to what he (or any other reviewer, ever, at all actuyally ) thinks but ppl have told me he thinks [censored] films are great and amazing films are crap. and price wise.... a cinema is a 50ft ( ) screen with massive surround sound, for £6. i thinks thats good value for money:) and some films you NEED to see with the right screen and sound (big action films) i could download revolutions on divx and see it right now but I want to get the big feel of it first, then watch it a million times at home
