CTW Members Claire DC Posted November 10, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted November 10, 2003 Yeah iv noticed the sets gettin shorter.. i think 1 and a half hours to 2 is a better timescale to look at for a set.. maybe warm up sets could be 1 hour to leave the extra time for the 'main' djs to play a bit longer or somethin?! CTW Members Shenlong Posted November 10, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted November 10, 2003 seems like it's getting to how it is at most drum and bass ngihts that i go to where everyone is on for an hour, getting as many djs as possible in. CTW Members Phil rr Posted November 10, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted November 10, 2003 what a lot of other people have said. i think it's to do with trying to fit as many big names as poss. which i think is total and complete bullshit, and it's one thing which kept me from going to the HHA b4 last. quantity not quality apparently?! club promotors: "they'll be so [censored] off their heads they won't care" - I'll bet you. 1:30 as an absolute minimum, 2 hours pref. 3 hours great. CTW Members Mr Happy Posted November 10, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted November 10, 2003 it only really seems to be in hardhouse that the DJs are booked w/o thought of the music. and theres a good reason for this, it doesnt matter how many DJs or how few you have in hardhouse nower days, 99% of them will spin the same 5 records ne way. If hardhouse DJs tryed experimenting a little more then promotors would be willing to give them more time. hardhouse club nights such as superfish give its residents 2 hours and the residents really did some creative things in that time. frantic only needs an hour per DJ as the DJs seem to have no imagination Quote Mr Happy's fishy fish MangaFish munch munch MSN & e-mail - mangafish@mangafish.net AOL - MangaMorgan Online mixes - http://www.mangafish.net/mixes/

CTW Members LiquidEyes Posted November 11, 2003 CTW Members Share Posted November 11, 2003 I can't comment on Frantic, but I agree that loads of hard house DJs are completely unimaginative. That's because it is the most bandwagon-jumped dance genre of the last few years. I'm not saying all hard house DJs are [censored], but a disproportionate number do play all the same tunes. My mate who is a hard house / techno promoter says 95% of the mix CD demos he gets contain the same old Nukleuz / Tidy tunes. Now it should be the job of promoters to filter out the [censored] DJs, but that fact is, lots of clubbers out there lap up the same old [censored]!
