minor technical issue: character escaping in URLs

James,

Not sure if you know about this minor issue. Say you want to insert a link to a website where the URL includes some escaped characters.

E.g. if I do a google search for "LiquidEyes is a pedantic git" the resulting URL is "[/b]LiquidEyes+is+a+pedantic+git"]http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q="LiquidEyes+is+a+pedantic+git"

(not the inverted commas are changed into the escape sequence ")

Now if I cut and paste that as a URL inside my post, the link works fine on the "preview" screen, but once I submit the post the link gets cocked up! If I try to edit the post afterwards, the " has been converted back to inverted commas.

Not a big problem, but presumably it means you can't link to any site where the URL contains escaped characters...?

Damn. It doesn't just happen inside URLs. The % 22 sequences have been converted to inverted commas throughout my post!! Aaaagh!

Andy,

Thanks for letting me know - I did put a hack in a while back which shortened the display name of the links - perhaps this is screwing it up - in which case I can remove the hack.
