Something to do with Alphamagic going bust I should think.

Alphamagic apparently gone into liquidation !!

I posted this earlier today..If what I hear is true about alphamagic going into liquidation then the uk dance music scene is totally and utterly and well and truly ****ed ... i've just received some of the ****test news I could have possibly received today which means there probably wont be many Louk tunes out in the future and many of the labels i've supported are screwed.... 4 people including 2 artists and 1 label distributed by them and 1 record shop told me of this so i have reason to believe it! And I hope to God it isn't true

This is the same company that owns these labels:
Bulletproof - Difuse - Active Media - Endeavour - Above the Sky - Dancing Spirit - Majestic12 - Negativa - PH Level - Sectioned - Rising High - Skillz -Sundissential - Rock Hard Recordings - Project-5 - Bulletproof Ltd - Mohawk - Execute- Hard Trax - Meety Moosic - Frisky- Cannon - Ef-Adrine - Feersum - Nile Records - No Return Records - Shock Recordings - Audio Rehab - Smokin' Productions and ****ing loads more plus distributed stuff from abroad too... on their site it says

"Alphamagic are also one of the UK's largest importers of European product. We are the main distributor of leading Hard Trance, Trance, Techno and Hardstyle labels from Germany, Italy and Holland. Labels include Overdose, Tracid Trax, Cases, Future Sound Corp, Dance Pollution, Titanic and Drizzly. Alpha also has the following German labels exclusively for the UK: Uberdruck, Progressive State, Planet Traxx, Blutonium, Pulsive, Tunnel, Illuminate, Wicked Tunes & Brain plus many more"

This sucks the uk is so truly ****ed!!!

To also give you an example of artists/producers who are affected by this

Jon The Baptist / Myself / Scott Mac / Alex Calver / Marcos / J K Walker / Breeze + Styles / Sol Ray / Dark By Design / JS Ten / L-E-V8 + Leigh Green / Mike Robbins / Dave Joy / Fast Floor / Jay Pidgeon / Alphazone / Alf Bamford / Mac Zimms / Karl Davis / Uberdruck and many more are all seriously ****ed.

all these labels are probably not going to be running anymore as they are owned by alphamagic:
bulletproof / project five / 90 degrees north / difuse / sectioned / encounter / endeavour / jump / bang / majestic 12 / rising high / sequential music / unit 3 / active media / audio rehab / krypton / nr / blueprint audio / execute / terratraxx / 2cb / remix reloaded / resistance / phantom trax / hard trax / pitch control plus more....

and alpha also distributed all these uk labels which are probably hit hard!
limit / asgard / crash test / dropzone / clsm / raverbaby / jelly baby / sundissential / quosh / evolution / sketcha trax / above the sky / captured music / ne+ultra / red silver / feersum / elevation / skywark / distructiv plus many more

plus alpha distribute all these foreign ones exclusively for the uk:
Uberdruck, Progressive State, Planet Traxx, Blutonium, Pulsive, Tunnel, Illuminate, Wicked Tunes & Brain

not forgetting the mass of Drum N bass labels too

this really sucks

Louk

yup, alpha are dead.... say goodbye to over 30% of the labels in the scene, and most likely, a large proportion of the producers who have been hit hard by this (lots of people were owed a ridiculous amount of money!)

not only that, audio rehab is dead so the track I did with Rebirth 'You Dont Know' is gone with it sad.gif

Theres a few Trancy labels and artists in there aswell sad.gif

Dunno if i'm right in my thinking, but surely the producers concerned will just end up getting signed by other labels, and other label, will get distributed by different distributors?

^ Yeah that's what I was thinking. One distributor collapses, but all the others get proportionally stronger (as long as there is demand for the tunes).

Any decent label will find a new distributor (not that it isn't a king-sized bummer for the labels in question).

I can't imagine the distributors owing that much money to the labels in question...? (It's quite possible I'm being a little naive here.) A lot of independents are run on a shoe-string anyway, we're not talking massive sums of money, and as far as I understand the distributors buy stock up front (on the basis that the label will buy back unsold stock afterwards).

Maybe someone a little wiser about the industry can clear this up...?

Well, I for one have to give up my production for the unforseen future.

Sure, we can sign on with other labels, but with Alpha going down I've lost a huuuuuuuuuge amount of money..so much so that I need to sell my equipment just to make ends meet.

I also feel bad for Alf Bamford who just started his own label with them and who gave up college sothat he can put all his effort into it.
