Guest
Ive used one of these new "pioneer look-a-likes" from behringer. And have to say it was the nuts. Dont think it would be as durable as a pioneer but for the price you cant complain. Plus for home use it wont get that much of a battering. Behringer have been taken to court several times, most recently by mackie. Behringer had totally copied one of mackies flagship studio mixers. Basically they take say the pioneer 500, take it apart to see how its built and rebuild it using cheaper parts and components.
CTW Members LiquidEyes Posted January 6, 2004 CTW Members Share Posted January 6, 2004 It makes you wonder whether you really do need supposedly "premium" components. It would be interesting if someone actually did some research into the durability of mixers relative to price. I don't doubt that the Behringers are inferior in build quality, but if their products are half the price, then the competitors' products would have to last twice as long to merit the price tag (if you see what I mean). Whenever you read reviews that go on about the supposed "amazing quality" of some expensive mixer, you wonder how far they've been sucked in by the hype (and price tag)... Also, people who have bought the more expensive products tend to be more snobbish about their gear, and will rubbish cheaper alternatives. CTW Members Mr Happy Posted January 6, 2004 CTW Members Share Posted January 6, 2004 well my mixer is at a push 2 years old and the eq faders's are a little crackley so theres no doubt in my mind that its worth the extra cash just depends on what your after at the time i guess. at the time i needed something cheep with 3 channels and this mixer was perfect for that. also u have to bare in mind that theres more then just durabilety to take into account. * theres sound quality (which granted isnt as much an issue on home systems). * theres the eq's. cheep mixers dont kill along the eqs tot he same extent that pricers models do. and i really do notice the difference Quote Mr Happy's fishy fish MangaFish munch munch MSN & e-mail - mangafish@mangafish.net AOL - MangaMorgan Online mixes - http://www.mangafish.net/mixes/

CTW DJs Tony P Posted January 6, 2004 CTW DJs Share Posted January 6, 2004 Behringer mixers.... your views?! i've used a few of these in my time and perrsonally think they make good budget mixers, but thats all. I've used ones in clubs which are relatively new and have been hammered to bits. but if you want it for home use and you are not heavy handed and are gonna look after it then i can't see much wrong with going for one of these, if it fits your price range
