Yes, my working atmosphere !

 

I have a pretty boring job, although, I do like it, the hours FLY by, it's good money, but the people I work alongside are nothing but cliquey indivialus. (bar the odd one or two.)

 

I work with 9 girls, all are nice girls (to get along with ), to a certain point, but they are all in their little group and they discuss things with eachother, plan nights out in front of me and don't even ask if I would like to come along (not that I would like to because they just don't seem like the group of girls id like to "hang around" with. Well, sinse their cliqueyness, I guess.), they laugh and joke amongst eachother, share their "joke of the day" e:mails to eachother, whilst im sat their, like a steaming turd with a "look at me im standing in the corner" hat on.

 

I get along with them fine, but the only time I talk to them, is when it is work related. I try to mingle, (I have been there just over a month, btw) but I get shut out. They planned their work christmas party in front of me and didn't even ask if I would liek to come along. Not that I would have gone, but that's besides the frikkin point.

 

It's getting to the point where, I am now dreading going into work, and walking in on them whilst I start my shift 30 minutes later than the time they started their shift.

 

There has been times where I have just wanted to switch off my PC, followed by telling them to stick their cliqueyness up their hoop, and just walking out. Although I am better than that, and won't jepordise (sp) my job for them lot, but it is something my head keeps telling me to do, becaise im feeling VERY uncomfortable working with those bunch of girls.

 

I worked in NTL for over a year, and my team were all males and got on with them absolutley brilliantly, so walking into this is pretty much new to me.

 

I applied for a job today anyways and am hoping that I will get lucky so I can up and go from that job and walk into a better one.

 

I guess the point im trying to make, is, the majority of girls are so cat liek with their claws out all the time, aswell as being cliquey, wingey ... working with a bunch of girls just IS NOT ME

 

Makes me sad that I have to work with people liek them, which stops me form being ME

Its because you're new, thats all. I always give it a 3 month 'bedding in' period and baring in mind you have come from a job where you knew most - if not everyone. Most jobs feel liek that but after a while you become one of them. You have to gradually get to know them. Worst thing you can do though its start acting a right charlie within your first few weeks, they'll soon get the arse and is the wrong way to go about it.

My new team manager is really Cliquey and I hate it!

My last two were not like that at all.

 

Im the type of person that would try and get on with anyone,

Ive always been that way.

 

I just keep my head down and get on with it, there loads of people I talk to anyways!

Maria - i've had to go through this "i'm new" [censored] at every job i've been at - pain in the ass, but you just gotta accept it - or possibly arrange something yourself and invite them - see what they say, if they turn you down they may at least think about asking you in future. Would be good if you went to a few nights out around MK - its got wicked bars etc.

Maybe it would do them some good to read this, they might not realise how they are behaving.

I'm in exactly the same position except I have no e-mail or Internet access, and spend most of the day listening (secretly) to music on my well concealed iPod just so I dont have to join in the inane conversations between the people.

 

One of the girls said to me today and I quote,

 

'You're gonna have to put up with the chats about periods now you are the only guy left in the team'.

Maria, as peeps have pointed out, it is because you are new etc, dont let them get to you sweety, at the end of the day what you need to tell yourself is, that you go there everyday eo earn a crust not make friends, but to make work mates is a bonus, granted, but fook them, if they are that ignorant to not want to get to know you, then their loss hon.....

 

Give it abit more time, but in the mean time get stuck into your work & remember you have real mates outside of the office!!

everyone always goes thru this when they start a new job but with your personality babe it will all be cool soon....

 

i always like starting a new job cause its a challenge to make yourself known within the work place...bit worried about starting in the bowling alley since ive already had a bit of an argument with the two guys already but not to worry...

my ex had the exact same problem.. i met them a few times...bunch of fuckin idjits..

 

when she finally got let into the clique after slagging them off relentlessly to me, she dumped me cos i never went out with her and her new 'freinds'.

 

she fell out with them all shortly afterwards...
