The on about the feud with Satan and God

His Dark Materials Trilogy by Phillip Pullman.

Part 1 = Northern Lights

Part 2 = The Subtle Knife

Part 3 = The Amber Spyglass

You will not be able to put these books down and when you finish them you will feel like something is missing from your life they are that good.

i have read all of these and then i made scream read them too, they are unbelievable and so deep that i can't believe they were written for children

the first 50 or so pages of northern lights are a bit hard to get into (in my opinion) but you have to persevere

i can't say enough how good they are! (as long as you are interested in philosophy that is)

It's for kids in the same way that the Simpsons is for kids.

Works on both levels fantastically well. A lot of the religious and philosophical ideas in it are complex, novel and fascintating wheras the story itself is fantasy, full of action and adventure, parallel universes, angels, witches and talking bears.

I can't reccomend these novels enough, I'd say they are probably better than LOTR as a trilogy.
