you have weird taste in rpgs James, apart from FF7

 

i think the game that captured my imagination the most was Damocles on the Amiga, it had awesome scope and an ingenious plot and was very quirky in a cool way - it just got very lonely walking along those flat plains looking for buildings to explore

 

i've been playing Doom 3 recently, superb game, overrated by many as it's not all that groundbreaking but in terms of atmosphere and sheer graphical briliance it is unmatched

atmosphere and graphics wise, its groundbreaking - as a genre, its not that much new except to make it a more 'survival horror' style by limiting ammo (well, if you play on harder settings anyway!)

 

the game scares me shitless though..... playing it in the dark with headphones is the ultimate FPS experience and it certainly gets the adrenaline pumping

 

I love the fact you cant use torch + weapon at same time.... certainly leads to some unnerving moments

tbh, i cant play it for much more then an hour because the game physically gets to me/spooks me... I have been playing computer games since I was about 8, and not a single game has EVER had an effect like this on me

 

The use of sound is probably the main reason - EVERY little sound makes you question where it originated from etc... obviously a lot of work gone into it!!

 

Seeing something moving in the shadows with a flashlight in your hand, just as it lunges at you is enough to give anyone a heart attack

I wanna know whats going on cos there was a bit where I heard a voice saying 'follow me' and bloody footsteps appeared on the floor..... followed em and it lead to a dead end - could hear a baby crying and some woman screaming 'they took my baby'.... wtf is going on lol
