Would you say your music tastes/genres have altered much since you first got in to the scene? unsure.gif

I've continually expanded the range of stuff I like. There are very few styles of music I have actually stopped liking, although in many cases I've massively refined my tastes within a genre. E.g. I still like trance, but I only rate a certain proportion of the stuff that I would have used to like.

In the 8 or 9-ish years I've been buying dance music, I've got into (in approximate order)

house / trance (mainstream / Euro type stuff)

hard house, 'classic' trance (circa '98)

garage, drum & bass

progressive house/trance, deep house etc

techno, tech house

(more recently) the 'modern' sound of trance, tech trance etc

I would say, out of that lot, my hard house collection is the one I'd most readily disown, though there are still a few tracks I rate. Also it's been a few years since I heard any new garage I liked, but I don't really follow the scene so who knows!

My music taste is very diverse and always has been. I go through cycles, it keeps things interesting.

I started off with being into garage & speed garage blushing.gifblushing.gif

Then I went to bouncy house, which I do not really like now on to the harder house/trance & techno, recently getting the taste for pys trance, but like Liam can pretty much enjoy most music styles grin.gif

Yeah I got a pile of speed garage; 90% of it is pretty forgettable! smile.gif I still think some of the early two-step garage, and the more soulful/jazzy stuff was great, before it went all 'bad boy'!

Same as you Liam, my tastes go in cycles too ... every now and then I have another 'deep house' phase or 'trance' phase ... often driven by a good night out that reminds me how good a certain style of music is ... or when I dig out a load of quality records that I haven't listened to for ages.

Totally!

Ive totally removed myself from my "usual nights out" and made an effort to go to nights I used to go to ages ago and some new nights aswell. For the 1st time I got myself into such a rut musically.

Now I have emerged myself into fresh and new sounds, I have that buzz again.

My musical history goes:

Cheesey 'dance' - Funky - Hardhouse/Hardtrance - Funky/Speedgarage/House

Well at least thats the general gist. I still really like everything it my list and loads more, but thats the history of what cds have lived in my stereo over the last few years.

Anyone fancy a bongle with bungle?
