Date rape drug!

Well we know most of the time it happens through drinks being spiked, but in an article today in the paper about the dangers of a new method of date rape.

 

A woman was attacked and raped and new nothing of the incident until she woke up in a hotel alone and became aware she had been raped and attacked.

 

The woman had asked for a cigarette from two unknown men and remembers feeling 'strange and dizzy' straight after smoking it. After then her memory is blank.

 

The cigarette had been dipped in embarming fluid and has become a new method of date rape and doping victims. The US has reported more cases of the attacks but they are quite new to the UK.

 

It sickens me that we live in a society as bad & as sick as we do

That is appalling and really worrying ! A few friends of mine have had drinks spiked in Newport as it is REALLY common here, and the police have a major problem with it from bar staff apparently? I cant think why other than people maybe drink more, stay longer if they are having a good time? The reality is a lot different though - my mate got spiked and was a complete mess and as she has never touched any illegal substances in her life Im sure her experience was more harrowing. Thankfully, the worst that happened was she got really distressed and started hurling abuse at everyone after being passed out in the loos for about 20 minutes.

I am a lot more cautious now Im older and never take a drink from someone but this new fag thing is really worrying as a lot of us have probably taken a cig from a stranger when we are randomly chatting in a club.

Just shows us we should be on our guard really, and be vigiligent for the people we are out with too!

 

PS. Does anyone think people like this should be chemically castrated or is it just me on my soapbox?

Well Alex, im not sure ref the cigarrette incident but I do remember seeing either on the tv or somewhere not so long ago about something like this happening, a man aswell, being offered a ciggie by two girls in a pub or club & then them saying to him how do you like what we have done to your ciggie, then he says he can not remember ought else but he woke up in a hotel room wallet etc all gone

 

As for the drink spiking it is fairly common now & very scray, I myself have been spiked & it is NOT a pleasant experience at all & this was about 8yrs ago & it has gotten worse

I was watching this on GMTV the other morning. It's crazy how people come up with these things to put people 'under' just to rape / abuse them. It's f*cking sickening.

It's something 'new' and needs to be brought to peoples attention, obviously. People need to make sure they are safe when out and accepting drink / cigarettes (thankfully, I don't do this, but only accept off genuine close friends who I know woudn't dream of dishing this stuff out !).

 

As Helen (smittenkitten) quite rightfully states, people need to be on their guard CONSTANTLY when out clubbing / drinking in bars etc. Just like people should carry their drinks with them at all times. I don't ever drink out of a glass unless I am indoors or at a VERY quiet pub with hardly any 'punters' around. Especialy the dodgy type. At least I know I am not in any danger of anyone dropping anythign into my drink, hence why I always drink out of a bottle and usualy hold it with my thumb over the top when on the move through clubs / pubs, and the only time I am ever set on getting pissed (which is a rareity) is when I am with friends and not with people I hardly know and trust.

 

It's obviously safer to be on your guard all the time rather than risk something that will scarre you for life.

Another worrying thing is that I have heard that some 'users' are actually trying to get hold of whatever this substance is for recreational use at parties etc

 

Being spiked is very scary, it happened to my best mate a few months back, thank god I had a drink in my bag and was drinking from that and was able to see what had happened and get us out of the situation, otherwise it would have been very nasty !
