God, would you take a look at this place

It really is a complete disgrace

They’d never have let it get this way

Back in the day

 

This DJ really thinks he’s it

He’s not a patch on Tony De Vit

He shouldn’t be allowed near vinyl

Deserves to get slung into a urinal

 

There’s gurning school children in the crowd

The sound is shit, it’s far too loud

Remember when things were really great?

Back in the day? In ’98?

 

The drugs were wicked, the crowd was fit,

The place was packed and having it

We’d dance until our feet were sore

‘Til 6am at 414

 

The music! Oh, the tunes they spun,

It was a revolution, and we’d won!

These days the bosh just make me plead

For mercy, while my ears bleed

 

Such a feeling of unity

Vicks Vaporub massages for free

Bongo drums and dogs on string

Diablos and that kind of thing

 

Clubs were dirty, small and hot

Speed freaks hacking up lumps of snot

Standing out in line for ages

For tickets that cost half your wages

 

Crack ons back on rough estates

Realising you’d lost your mates

And the new ones who you’d been hugging

Had just popped out for a spot of mugging

 

Then walking ten miles in the rain

To find a bus, a cab, a train

Anything, at any cost

To get back home to the plot you’d lost

 

Oh yes, those were the days, my friend

Well, anyway, that's what I'll pretend

When you call me a big girl’s blouse
