Back in May we took over this East Belfast gem for the first time with David Holmes, and anyone who was in that room knows exactly what Shorts can do. We promised ourselves we'd be back before the year was out, but we couldn’t leave it that long. We're back before the summer's out, with part one of our end of summer weekender, and it’s a big room to fill, so we’re bringing along favourites of ours for this one - Paranoid London.

For nearly two decades, Paranoid London have been acid house's most gloriously bloody-minded outfit. Gerardo Delgado and Quinn Whalley built their name doing everything the industry says you shouldn’t. Vinyl-only releases, no promos, no digital, pressing fewer records than there were orders for, and refusing interviews for the first ten years. What cut through instead was the music: raw, distorted, 303-and-808-driven acid made entirely on hardware, closer in spirit to punk than anything polished.

Then there's the reputation. Alongside vocalists like Mutado Pintado and Josh Caffe they've torn through Panorama Bar, fabric and most of Europe's best rooms - riotous enough that one Ibiza venue famously paid them not to come back. Along the way they've pulled Alan Vega, Bobby Gillespie and Fat Dog's Joe Love into their orbit, most recently on 2024's brilliantly titled Arseholes, Liars and Electronic Pioneers.

And of course there’s Shorts itself. We've never made a secret of our love for social clubs, working men's clubs and spaces with a bit of history in the walls, from masonic halls to bowling clubs, Dockers to the Hack Club, these are the rooms where our regulars feel most at home. Shorts is one of the best of them: a proper East Belfast social club.

As ever, TNI residents Timmy Stewart and Jordan Nocturne will be on warm-up duty, setting the tone with an extended set before handing over to Paranoid London.

Big soundsystem, bespoke visuals and guaranteed atmosphere.

This is part one of our end of summer weekender - part two to be announced very soon. It’ll be a free event with a big Irish focus.
