Eq settings

my normal mixer i use cuts each setting by -26db and goes up to +12db (tascam X-15) another mixer i have goes from -30db to +10db (numark DM3000X) whilst i don't use the +ve readings that often, when cutting the bass to bring a track in, i find that the -26db is perfect and that -30db is too much if that makes sense. This means that i can't cut the -30db one all the way without loosing some of the higher end sounds as well. Whilst this isn't an actual problem it does mean that it makes me fck my mixes up occasionally as i cut it too much. Just wondering what values every1 else likes to use and whether they use the full range of that to cut the bass?

With one of the most talked about events of the year just around the corner (Frantic/Wildchild), we at Clubtheworld with help from our friends at Frantic have taken the oppotunity to interview one of the hottest new DJ's on the Hard Dance scene. This Dj is resident at Mixmags club of the year 2002 "Goodgreef" and is set to blow Frantic/Wildchild apart. We asked DJ Shan the following questions: CTW - Your a Mixmag Future Hero as well as Resident at GoodGreef (Mixmag Hard Dance Club of the Year). When you started out did you think you would ever imagine this would be the case? SHAN - Not at all, when I started out I wasn't even old enough to get into clubs, so I…

Righty, I finally got sick of my crappy decks and I'm gonna get either Vestax 2300's (which I haven't played on) or the Technics MK5's (which I have played on and liked a lot !). Any opinions would be appreciated ! Also, if I were to go for the cheaper option of a pair of MK2s second hand, is there anything to look out for in the way of them being knackered ?

During the build up to Frantic/Wildchild at the SEOne Club on the 20th March, ClubTheWorld with the help of their friends at Frantic thought it would be a good idea to interview one of the headlining DJ's at the event. JFK is a resident and promoter at Passion and rocks some of the country’s top clubs on a weekly basis. We asked JFK the following questions: CTW - Did you go to the miami music conference? and if so what new tunes did you pick up and who passed them on to you. JFK - No I hated Miami when I went, full of arrogant industry music people… I like to keep it real. CTW - Do you get recognised in the street or do you see yourself as an underg…

everyone i talk to says they find breakbeat easer to beatmatch than 4-to-the-floor as theres more going on in breaks i have no idea how they came to that conclusion as i cant seem to mix it for shit so ar, its the only genre i find harder to mix than hardhouse alot of people say techno is the hardest thing theyve tryed to mix, but i find it the easyest to beatmatch and the easyest to actually mix in . and i'm completly hopeless at hardhouse i guess its just what your used to at the end of the day.

I need some help... I'm trying to copy a few discs using nero, however....... I was under the impression that providing the tracks are split on the original disc this will be evident on the copys. Of the 6 that i've copied so far non of them have the tracks split, do i need to re-record the mix onto my pc, split the tracks myself, then burn new copies?

What a program!! our timestreching days are over! This program is basically a sequencer except that it will timestretch in real tim eany sample to fit with the current bpm of the song that your working on. so say if you have your purcussion loops running 140bmp and and want to stick a bassline over the top that is originally 130bpm - it will make it fit straight away - no waiting for processing or anything! so the possiblities for this for a live dj performance are endless - take a lapton to a gig with shit loads of samples and loops on and inorporate them into your set! top stuff!

Allen and Heath X One 92 Remortgage your house to buy this mixer, if you have to... This is the best mixer ever. The sound quality is unrivalled, the features are unsurpassed - especially the low frequency oscillator. The 4 band eq on four independant channels are superior, and the low, mid and high band pass filters give excellent flexibilty for creative djs, the penny + giles crossfader is smooth and not too loose, with the xone: 92 crossfader curve being more to my liking. In addition, the intelligent post eq system is excellenty implemented. combine this and my ttx1's and you have got the ultimate setup for the real creative djs out there, i'm now …

right guys - i'm as thick as shit when it comes to producing so i'm gonna try and leach some free pointers from u guys. what kind of volume levels work best for diff styles of music? what arrangements work effectively to give a track some pace to it? do filters help with the use of percussion? what sort of frequences should the percussion be playing at? what different types of percussion are there out there and do some work better than others for specified tasks? have i left anything out? basically once i've learned how to use percussion in a very formalaic way, i can then start to use some imagination and play about a bit. but at the moment my tracks …

One more problem I have been getting......Wonder if anyone has any ideas as to why this is happening.... I've only just finished my mix-cd but that's only cos I have borrowed my mates CD writer and recorded from my hi-fi directly onto that, and then opened it up in Soundforge. When I was trying to record it directly onto Soundforge, I would finish my mix and go back to listen to it...At random points in the mix, there would be some strange noises come in...Kinda like if u had a cd playing and it skipped There didn't seem to be any pattern as to when this happened. I use the booth monitor output on the mixer (DJM600) and plug it into my soundcard and adjust the …

Hello Wonder if anyone can help me ... Am wondering what program does everyone use to split their mix into individual tracks after recording it? I have got Soundforge6.0, but I can't for the life of me figure it out......I put the markers in, but it's what to do after that which confuses me. If need be, can download another program to split the tracks (MOD - would have downloaded that program u said but don't have Kazaa and can't find it elsewhere). Joe
