Thats well off - i think anyone that gets a lift with someone should at least offer them some money towards petrol!

I did buy him 10 cigarettes on on of my many expeditions to the garage (I think)

I agree with Sarah, once you start offering to give people lifts, before you know it you have done an extra 100 miles, and probably would never have taken your car in the first place. This weekend is a perfect example, I have booked my train ticket to London, and it cost £20 return, but if I took my car, it would be at 250 mile round trip (£30-£40 + parking), which is worth it if 2-3 of you go and split the cost.

I don't mind as long as people appreciate me.
