  1. SarahPVC

    Jana

Jana only Started DJ'ing about a year ago, however as most things in life, being a girl she kept at it and picked it up in no time (unlike most of us lads who give up!). As a clubber she had always admired DJ's and become addicted to the music, the natural progression was to get a set of decks! Jana's inspiration and biggest influence came first from Lisa Pin-up and then the likes of Nick Sentience and BK. Music Style: Hard House/Hard Trance/Hard Dance From: Sturovo - Slovakia Date of Birth: 30 July Residencies: Rush Bookings Contact: Myself on 0788 4067951 - 01628 773584 No. of records: 500+ Started playing: September 2001 All time top 3 tunes: It's hard to pick! 2. Kernzy: Name : Paddy Kearns, Yob : 1977, Born : Kettering Kernzy started mixing in 1992 playing early hardcore. Continued playing hardcore / happy hardcore up until about 1997 when he decided it wasnt giving him the buzz that the original hardcore sound was, picked up on speed garage for 6 months or so before abandoning that for hardhouse, which he has been playing ever since. Klemenza: Name : Gav Kerr, Yob : 1976, Born : Loughborough Klemenza began back in 1995 during the happy hardcore explosion, continued with this sound for the next 2 years, dabbled in the speed garage scene for a short time where he met up with Kernzy (who had already decided that garage wasnt for him) and started playing with a few hardhouse tunes he'd picked up. The Duo: It wasnt long before the idea of teaming up as a double act was suggested and K&K was born! The only thing was that Klemenza was still using his old dj name & "Kernzy & Skippy" didnt sound too hot so a new name was needed! It was during a GODFATHER marathon (where kernzy made klemenza watch all 3 movies back 2 back) when the name of one of the gangsters caught the boys ears. "Clemensa"........ It had a nice ring to it and with a few alterations to the spelling, Gav had a new identity! After 3 years of constantly sending out mixtapes to everyone & anyone via the internet, standing outside clubs dishing out freebies & promoting their name in any way possible it was inevitable that people would start talking and it was December 2000 when Sundissential promoter MADDERS rang the boys to offer them a set in the main room of the Sanctuary for HARDHOUSE HEAVEN which then turned into the boys first residency. From: Kettering Year of Birth: Paddy (Kernzy) - 1977, Gav (Klemenza) - 1976 Management Agency: Dropzone Management Bookings Contact: Charlotte or Gaz : 07973409136 No. of records: Hmm. well between us both and including our Hardcore & speed garage... i reckon 4000 + Started Playing: Paddy - about 1992, Gav - about 1995 All time top 3 tunes: "hooked" - 99th floor elevators (pete wardman mix), "meltdown" the project (od404 mix), Hardbeat ep 11 (Changes all the time tho, theres loads of wicked tunes) Website: www.kernzyandklemenza.com Worst DJing moment: Playing at a club in Nottingham asking the sound engineer where the monitor is and him replying..."Whats a monitor" we was trying to hide after each mix. taken the wrong needle off a few times too Would most like to play: Frantic & full moon party in thailand Most enjoyable set you've played: Insomniacz@ Fantasy Island, Skegness. 3. JP & Jukesy aka Jon-Paul Montgomery and Adam Jukes are two rising stars in the UK scene especially in their home city of Birmingham. We both have come from a clubbing background and have spent every weekend out for the last couple of years going to various clubs around the country, after a about 4 years of clubbing we decided we wanted to do more than just go to clubs. We decided we wanted to play in the clubs, we wanted to control the music played out to the clubbers and this gives us great satisfaction. To see the smiling faces of thousands of clubbers gives us both such an amazing adrenaline rush, that rush it what drives us week in week out. We have always favoured the harder side of hard house and this reflects in the sets that we play we also play hard trance and techno in our sets. After fully supporting Sunday School in their opening months in Birmingham we were both given solo slots playing at the night, this is where we decided to go back to back and from April 2002 we were given a monthly residency as JP & Jukesy and we haven't looked back since. Sunday School gave us our first monthly residency and when the night decided to expand to a larger club in Birmingham they took us with them. We have since played at every event for Sunday School at the Bonds nightclub and are now the main residents with Tim k. In the Summer of 2002 we set up our own night called Fluential at the Academy bar in Birmingham which was successful and ran for 8 weeks but due to other commitments the night was put on hold. In this time we were also given a residency at 2 student nights, Bounce and Frazzle. Also in 2002 Afterssential opened at Subway City where we played the second night from the launch and had the privilege to take over from Andy Farley, since then the closing slots at Afterssential have always been a joy to play. We have also appeared live on www.bpmradio.co.uk several times in 2002 going out live to 1000+ In 2003 we entered our first Dj competition it was for www.bangingtunes.com of which we were 1 of 8 winners and were awarded a set in the BT room at Insomniacz F.U.C.K in Sheffield which has been one of the hardest events the UK has ever seen. With a good performance there we are now booked to play again and also received a booking for World Dj Day where all proceeds go to cancer research. In March 2003 after an excellent performance at a rammed Insomniacz Leicester we were given a bi-monthly residency at the Leicester event. We were also given main residents spot at the Jam in Birmingham and Delicious in Oswestry. We also opened a new afterclub called Deprivation with Daley, which will run special events on the Bank holiday weekends. Working hard for our love of hard house and wanting to bring our own style to the dance floor we have had 2 tracks signed to Passion Records and will be released on Passion Presents in April. Both tracks How I feel and H-bomb are two hard house stompers and the reaction to both records has been excellent. In 2003 we joined Gurn.net's DJ Agency, ClubTheWorld DJ Agency, DJ-Register DJ Agency, Mainroom DJ Agency and will be playing at their tours around the country. If you are interested in booking these agencies for a tour please contact Jukesy or JP for details. . We compile hard house charts for hard to find records every other month, this is mailed out to over 180,000 customers worldwide, and we also compile monthly charts for our website https://www.jpandjukesy.co.uk Music Policy: We are real crowd pleasers as we come from a clubbing background and we know how to read a crowd. Our style of music ranges from proper hardhouse to hardtrance to techno just depending on what the crowd want. From: Jukesy - Dudley, Jp - Tamworth Year of Birth: Jukesy - 1981, JP - 1981 Management Agency: Residency: Sunday School, Afterssential, Insomniacz Leicester, Frazzle and Fluential (own night) No. of Records: 2000+ Started Playing: May 2002 as Jp & Jukesy but we had both previously played out solo All time top 3 tunes: Bk - Bad Ass (original), RR Fierce and DMF Full metal (original), Ian M No way Worst DJing Moment: Travelling 2 hours to a gig Wales, 15 minutes into the set the police came in and shut the place down because they never had a music license. JP kept putting the music back on while the police were there and the owner went mad. Needless to say we made a quick exit. Was well funny tho J Would most like to play: Sundissential HQ (main room) and Sundissential North Most enjoyable set you've played: Sundissential Ibiza in August 2002 and Sundissential Hq re-opening in the Dance Factory. Sunday School at Bonds are always enjoyable too. When you're not DJing you're: Both hard at work in our full time jobs and trying to juggle studio work. Favourite DJs: Ian M, Andy Farley and Paul Glazby Favourite Venue: Evolution, Leeds Favourite Promotions: Sunday School, Sundissential Favourite Producers: Tom Ingamells, Paul Janes, Karim, Glazby, Casper, the late RR Fierce (rip) Paul King, Nik Denton, Guy Mcaffer the list could go on and on Favourite Labels: Passion Records and Vicious Circle Biggest Influences: Sundissential as a clubber from the pulse days. Producing and dj wise it would probably be Ian M, Glazby and Farley Drink: Shandy as always driving somewhere Non-music pastime: Women J Words of wisdom: You should never burn your bridges as it may have to cross them again at a later date, also if you don't ask you don't get!! If you could change the colour of the sky what colour would it be?: Turquoise Did you ever fancy your dinner lady at school?: Never a dinner lady, there were a few nice teachers tho. 5. Biography: ColTheMedik used to go to clubs like Tin Tins and Sundissential years ago and was always making a nuisance of himself in the DJ booth. He made a point of watching and learning from all the great djs of that time i.e. Andy Farley, Tony De Vit and Paul Kershaw and tried to learn as much as possible about djing before he took to the turntables himself. He took up his quest to become a hardhouse DJ around 3 1/2 years ago. He got his first set of decks in September 1999 as a present from his brother and it wasn't long till he was playing for mates at party's and the like. Infact! Believe it or not, he played his first gig 3 months after first starting to a crowd of 500 at a rave in a skatepark in Birmingham on millenium night. He has to say that after having played to a crowd of 500 at such an early stage of his djing career, he was well and truly hooked and decided then to make it one of his goals to play at both his two favourite clubs. (Sundissential and Tin Tins) He is happy to say he has played at both those clubs now. His first big break came in 2000 when he was intoduced to the promoter of CRUNCH. The guy had never heard him play before, never mind not having met him before. He took a risk on him and gave him residency playing warm up sets. Thanks to him Col was able to get himself recognised in Birmingham. He was soon playing at alot of the hardhouse clubs in the midlands and now has residencies at SHAFT, Saturday SHAFT, AFTERSSENTIAL and held a residency at CRUNCH. About a year ago he was given the opportunity to run his own night called SHAFT in Birmingham at Decades Musik Bar. He was totally new to the whole promotion side of things so it was definately an up hill struggle for him, especially doing it on his own with no promotional experience. Luckily he was introduced to the lads from REAL FM (Toni De Leon, Projek K, Padge and CID) They jumped onboard and gave him much needed help and advice. Thanks to the help of them and his co-promoter Mark H. Shaft has now moved on to bigger and better things and is without a doubt a name that people in Birmingham and all over clubland associate with the hardhouse scene. Music Policy: He would describe his style as tough chunky hard trance and hard house with a bit of acid techno thrown in at the end of his sets every now and then. He has got to say that his mixing style is never the same week in week out. He is a great believer in always trying to better himself and try new techniques and styles. His sets do vary enormously. However! The majority of the time he starts of trancey and proggresively get faster and harder as the minutes tick away and finds this works wonders with the crowd. He has a unique and natural ability to interact with the clubbers. It's important as a DJ to get the vibe and atmosphere right in a club. Played Alongside Andy Farley, Charlotte Birch, Nick Rafferty, Justin Bourne, KARIM, Rob Tissera, Mark H, Ian M, Paul Kershaw, Gaz James, Strange Dave, Mick Cree, Chad lewis, James Birch, Steve Thomas and Paul Glazby but to name a few. 6. Biography Both Dave Moore and Phil Benson (@Phil B) have been DJing for around 8 years. They have both seen a lot of changes to the clubbing world and their styles through the years have changed accordingly. Whilst DJing separately they have both had some success gaining work on the club circuit. Over Christmas 2002 a back-to-back session was played at a house party. From this The Toxic Twins came into being and the search for work as a duo started as well as continuing with their own DJ careers. The Toxic Twins Sinergy Testlab, Manchester 2003 BPM Radio, Birmingham 2003 Future Plans After a successful debut at BPM Radio a return booking has been received for April. Other spots are in the process of being confirmed. Both DJs are very committed to obtaining work and after the success of the dates played so far feel that they have something to offer the clubbing world.
  7. Ikon

    Ikon

Leighton Howell aka @Ikon bought his first pair of decks and began DJing in 1997 at the age of 14. Although originally starting out as a Happy Hardcore DJ, it was during a work experience stint at the age of 15 in the local dance music record shop that Ikon was introduced to the sound that now dominates his sets - Hard Trance. Despite gracing the decks at many house and birthday parties over the next couple of years Ikon found it difficult to break into circuit of playing at "proper" clubs despite sending out numerous demos to promoters. So in 2000, aged just 17, Ikon decided to start promoting his own event Evolution. Evolution was a Hardcore Techno and Hard Trance event that ran monthly at The Orange Peel in Rhyl, N.Wales and was initially setup as somewhere for Ikon and other aspiring DJs to play in front of real crowds and gain valuable experience. The event ran from Oct 2000 to Oct 2001 and despite only running for one year the night became regarded as the 3rd biggest Underground Hardcore and Hard Trance event in the UK and attracted people from all over the country. During his time promoting Evolution Ikon was able to push his talents to the right crowds and promoters and make a name for himself, which in turn has seen him earn regular bookings from some of the big underground promoters such as Vibealite, North and Species. As well as DJing, Ikon has also made a huge name for himself as an MC in the underground scene. In January 2001 he entered an MC competition at the North "Dogz bollox" DJ competition for a laugh and won. This lead to a booking at the next North event, and it was at this event that the promoter was so impressed he offered Ikon a residency which is now in its second year. As well as this Ikon has also held a residency at Species in Manchester and has MC'd for some of the larger underground organisations such as Vibealite and Helter Skelter. As well as DJing and MCing Ikon is also Hard Trance editor on the underground dance website - UK-Scene.org.uk, for which he writes reviews on new tunes and events and interviews other DJs, he also helps co-ordinate and promote any events UK-Scene are involved in. He has also recently joined the Vibealite as part of their Internet promotions team. Music Policy Although listing his main influences as being DJs such as Mark EG, M-Zone, Vortex and Sharkey, Ikon's main attribute is his own unique sound hat he has worked hard on creating, fusing many different types dance music, such as Hard Trance, Hard House, Techno, Acid, Prog house into one tough yet uplifting action packed set. Ikon is always on the lookout for a new label, producer or sound in order to enhance his sets and make them stand out from the rest. Ikon also prides himself on being able to react to any situation and adapt to any crowd and keep the dancefloor rocking. Venues Played North @ The Void, Stoke-onTrent (Resident) North @ Lakota, Bristol North @ The Emporium, Leicester Evolution @ The Orange Peel, Rhyl Species @ The Park, Manchester Invasion @ Swallow Falls Detonation @ The Orange Peel, Rhyl Vibealite @ The Street, Skegness Vibealite @ The Eclipse, Accrington Vibealite @ The Old Corn mill, Huddersfield Vibealite @ The Emporium, Leicester Compulsive @ The Orbit, Leeds Know:Fear @ The Pheonix, Manchester Vinyl Frontier @ Club Metz, Stoke-on-Trent Toco @ Bodafon Farm, Llandudno Inspire @ The Buzz Club, Llandudno Enigma @ The old hall, Llandudno Solaris @ Broadway Boulevard, Llandudno The Clinic @ Time, Bangor Rewind @ Stax, Stockport Digital @ Nation, Liverpool Horizon @ Zanzibar, Liverpool Overdose @ Bar Hanna, Liverpool Oblivion @ Club Soho, Leicester L.O.T.D.B @ The Que club, Birmingham Binary @ North, Manchester Digital @ The Orange Peel, Rhyl Incision @ Paradise club, Leeds Fantasy Island NYE 01 @ Fantasy Island Fantasy Island NYE 02 @ Fantasy Island Future Plans Ikon has recently been working hard in the studio and has two tracks and a few re-mixes under his belt which are currently unsigned. Despite achieving so much in such a short space of time Ikon is eager for more. His main aim now is to break into the more mainstream circuit and push his sound to a fresh, new crowd. Having done the rounds and having success in the underground scene Leighton is now ready for a new challenge and at still only 20 years old he is definitely one to look out for in the future.

  10. Guy Hornsby has been DJing in and around London for close to 3 years after first putting needle to vinyl in Dec '99. Brought up on the house sound of the north in Sheffield in the first half of the 90s, he has always been a dedicated music lover and that comes across in his mixing style and personality behind the decks. A career starting in the bedroom led to first forays into playing out the following summer, making his debut in August 2000, behind the decks in the Glasshouse, at house night Full Frontal. Successful promotion work through the year for London-based Wildchild also saw him gain his first residency in November, playing at the Hanover Grand and later Fink, as he honed his upfront, crowd-friendly house sound. After a break in 2001 travelling Asia and Australasia he re-entered the scene, playing a tougher and more varied style. 2002 saw him spreading his wings outside London, thanks mainly to work with 4clubbers.net (where he reviews festivals and clubs across the UK), rewarded with a set at the Sundissential reopening warm-up at the Academy in Birmingham in July, Sacrilege in Nottingham (recently voted 4th best night in the UK by Mixmag) and a residency at the Dogstar in Brixton. Further hard work this winter has brought more dates in London and beyond, with his set for Wildchild v Nukleuz at Heaven in November a resounding success. The new year saw him celebrate his birthday in style at Soft Porn, and rock the Baby Box at Tribalism for MoS radio; his debut at Ministry was a memorable one. Q&A Music Policy: Guy plays everything from vocal US house to deep and tribal. He's booked more for the 'funkier' side of things, but he will play anything that will get people on the floor. 11. NEW RESIDENT, NEW CLUB, NEW WAY TO GO Biography: FROM BANK CLERK TO SUPERKID, TEABOY TO TURNTABLE TEASER,...whichever way you look at it, Reece Elliot is already on his way! Still only 23, his trademark Trance supersound has secured him main room action for Clockwork Orange @ Camden Palace, Gallery @ Turnmills, Ministry of Sound, The Cross, Hanover Grand, The Glasshouse and Aquarium not forgetting his already hugely acclaimed residency for Wildchild @ Heaven (possibly the most exciting promotion to come out of London in years having been voted second biggest night by Radio 1s Essential Selection, and currently held at number 36 in Mixmags top 75 nights in the country). Wildchild is definitely an impressive night to be resident at, and the way we see it, no-one could fit the bill as well as Reece does. After all, who else could have filled in for M.I.K.E (Push) at such short notice*, only to get swamped at the end of his set by over-awed clubbers all wanting to shake M.I.K.Es hand? When you consider all this, its hardly any wonder that Reece has already been billed alongside (so far) the likes of Judge Jules, Lisa Lashes, Tall Paul, John Kelly, Signum, Cosmic Gate, Lange, JFK, Matt Hardwick, Tidy Boys, BK, Andy Farley, and Rob Tissera - as well as newer names such as Eddie Halliwell, Daniel Bailey, Pulser and Adam Sheridan names which, like Reece Elliot, are all undoubtedly the ones to watch out in the next few months. The onslaught of Wildchild (which burst out on the scene last November to riotous success), and the introduction of Reece onto the capitals club circuit is exciting enough; however, these are not the only results that have erupted from his burgeoning musical talent. His outstanding production under his secret pseudonym has seen one particular release supported to almost manic proportions across the airwaves courtesy of radio jocks such as Judge Jules, Dave Pearce and Graham Gold and has consequently won him such accolades as Graham Golds Kickin Cut on Kiss FM, and Judge Jules' Web Chart Winner with a massive 29,000 votes. As if all that wasnt enough, his latest release under the pseudonym turned out to be practically every DJs choice of tune for NYE. Both Armin van Buuren and Judge Jules played this track in Los Angeles and Donagul Square in Belfast respectively (the latter being broadcast live to over 1.5 million over the airwaves); while Tiesto chose to drop it as his last record of the night @ Times Square in New York. Despite all this, though, perhaps the most indicative factor of Reece Elliots new phenomena, is the way that other clubs are already pushing him forward. Last November, The Gallery presented A Month of Future Heroes, with 5 of their most established superstar DJs handpicking their own personal 'Future Heroes' to play at the club. The month saw Fergie introduce Petrae Foy, Judge Jules give Eddie Halliwell his Gallery blessing - and Sister Bliss move over from the hallowed Turnmills tables to present Reece Elliot with a chance to take up the gauntlet and keep The Gallery rocking for another seven years. Exciting, innovative, talented and frenzied, Reece Elliot is one of, if not the, new Superstar DJs of the next generation. Witness him next @ Wildchild @ Heaven on March 14th but, as anyone who has seen him before can testify, youd better be prepared. Soundcloud

  13. DJ Billy Gonzalez is known for his tight technical ability as well as breadth and variety of tune selection. Being an open-minded and true lover of the various genres of dance music, he has mastered the art of Balearic DJing, that is to say he will play whatever best suits the mood or will best take the party in the direction he wants it to go. Whether warming the crowd up early on or rocking the place late into the night he has something special to offer and always responds to the club's atmosphere and the crowd itself.. Having started out as a trance DJ under the guise of MrE, he started by making mix cds for friends and playing at parties, learning what keeps a crowd going, builds them up, breaks them down and getting feedback all the while. Having enjoyed clubbing for many years, his social group consisted of many Djs/producers and clubbers all sharing a passion for the music whom have all influenced the artist- none more so than his brother Kristian, also known as The Road Runner. While at university he joined the LSE's Underground Dance Music Society and was given the opportunity to play at a number of events held in the Underground Bar. Rather than playing to trance fans, regulars at nights like Serious at the Cross he experienced a new target audience of students and post-grad students from all over the world who wanted to hear more of the breaks and house records hed been collecting all the while. One night he played breaks for the first set and then dropped some DnB for the final set of the night, much to the surprise of those lasting all the way through! His performances there attracted a lot of attention, earning him recommendations to promoters and soon enough the sets were coming in thick and fast. While based in Shoreditch he played at nights held in The Charterhouse Bar, Parker's Place, Fluid, Bar 1920, Bed, The Bear, Ember and all the while continued to rock the party scene gaining a reputation for his special blending of house, breaks, electro, techno and trance. His prime-time club debut came in March 2003 when asked to play a set in The Quad, the hour just before Judge Jules. Bridging from funky house before him, he kept the rhythm going adding techier sounds through the set climaxing to a Trance finale ready for the Judge to take over. He remembers asking Jules if ready to take over to which he replied "No Im enjoying this. Do you want to stay on for a bit more?" This led to him being booked the following September for Party Like Theres No Tomorrow once again playing with Judge Jules, this time for 2 hours in the main room of Turnmills. In 2004 two of his mixes, Ethereal Trance 1 & 2 were selected to be showcased on chemical-records and he was invited to play live on Pulse FM radio station. Getting on well with producers of the show he was invited back to host his own show "An Education in Dance" which can be heard Thursdays 1230-1400 on Pulse FM on the radio-waves and also live on the internet. At the Pulse FM Awards in April he won the "Best DJ" category, adding another feather to his cap. Always responding to changes in tastes and shifts in the club scene, his second trip to Ibiza showed him a new sound coming out from DJs such as Felix the Housecat, Danny Ghenacia & Benny Benassi, whom he met with and discussed the new electro-funk genre. He returned to London with an aim to champion this new sound, dropping it into his regular sets at the Masque Bar, Kings Cross. 2005 will see the release of 4 bootleg titles and a remix on the newly formed Looney Tunes record label as well as the release of his compilation series' entitled Funct House & Breaks Electro. He was voted in as new president of the UDMS and has taken this organization in new directions, organizing a DJ competition and putting on some wild parties at Play, 93 Feet East and Plastic People. Past Events 08/06/05 Milkshake @ Ministry Of Sound. UDMS Hosting the Babybox room, this is the final Milkshake of the year! 06/05/05 Tanya's 30th @ Amber. 14. Ryan Blair hails from the Port of Larne, home to international DJ sensations Fergie, Robbie Nelson and Gleave Dobbin. From humble beginnings as a light jock in a local nightclub, Ryans career has progressed steadily and he can be spotted on the weekly bills for some of Northern Irelands top night spots. His versatility scores him highly with clubbers as he knocks out sets comprising funky grooves, chunky house and tech-edged trance. Breaking his DJing teeth in 92 playing to capacity crowds at Rafters in Larne, Ryans early ventures seen him spin records up and down the North Coast with his residency at Club Fiction in Ballymena, where he played alongside Lush resident DJ Col Hamilton and the legendary Matthew Roberts. He has went on to play regularly at High on Life events in Dundalk and leading clubs such as Clublands in Cookstown, Coach in Banbridge, Thompsons Garage and Club Matrix in Dungannon. As well as holding down a residency at the ever-popular Soi in Portrush and the flourishing new club-night Sin at Laverys in Belfast, Ryan continues to travel across the Irish Sea on a regular basis to entertain hordes of Scottish clubbers in Club Teaze just outside Glasgow. In 2002 Ryan hit the airwaves as part of a heavy-weight DJ line-up at Fergies Homecoming Bash which was broadcast live on BBC Radio One. His accessible sound has continued to reach the masses via Clubtrax and Credo on Citybeat 96.7fm, Pete Snoddens Eupho on Cool fm and Dublins finest 2fm. On tranceairwaves.com and trancesend.com his mixes have been aired alongside the very best including Armin Van Burren, Paul Van Dyk and Tiesto. Also his mixes have been getting exposure on Brazil radio (www.danceparadiseradio.co..br) Since August, Ryan has been boxed up in the studio working on original material to launch in 2006. The first production he completed was a remix of Poltergeist Vicious Circles the track is already getting the thumbs up from the likes of Anne Savage, Rob Tissera, Mark Sherry (Public Domain), Agnelli & Nelson, Gleave Dobbin, Jay Pigeon. The Ryan Blair remix features on the forthcoming Ministry of Sound Frantic Euphoria 2005 compilation, (dec 05) mixed by the leading lady of hard dance, Anne Savage. What an achievement in so little time. The future is looking very bright for this lad. definitely one to watch in 2006 website - www.djryanblair.co.uk Comments on Ryan Blair Production...................................... CD3 is given over to Anne Savage again...who goes into Slinky mode. This is where it gets interesting. Future tracks are showcased here. The likes of Gleave, Anne Savage, Ben Stevens & Abandon, Marcel Woods and Vicious Circles are all present and correct. This is probably the best CD of the lot, in my view (Frantic Euphoria) "Northern Irish nu-breed dj/producer Ryan Blair kicks ass with his first (highly illegal and very cheeky) solo venture !!" And vicious being my fave ! clear production ! (Mark Sherry) Played Ryans new track across the Slinky Australia tour and it ripped up festivals across the country, great track... (Dave Lee @ Slinky) Wow!! What a fantastic re-work we have here and Ryan Blair does it total justice, not once but two awsome re-works! 10/10 on 'This is Vicious' and 09/10 on 'Natural Born Groovin'! Keep up the outstanding work! (Tom @ tek-dj management) I like Naturally Born Groovin..the original became too poppy..but I like this tougher edged ..Ill play it out..6/10 though I really like the Vicious Circles re..nice and edgy and tekky...the way tomorrows trance should be..Ill be playing for sure mate 9/10 well done. 15. An incredible energy, spirit and passion behind the decks... Clare Large is one of the UKs most hardworking, dedicated and exciting DJs. She was introduced to music aged 8 when she started playing the harp. She's taken it busking all around her home of Cornwall, provided entertainment at weddings, given lessons, recorded a session improvised for Opus 3, played in orchestras and still plays today. Going to raves many years ago inspired her to start DJing and create her own style. She's played at all kinds of clubs, bars, radio shows, afterhours, free parties, festivals and unusual parties around the world, and lined up with the best in the business. She's played on and organised many extensive tours of America, Bulgaria, Canada, Mexico and India, and has also undertaken sponsored tours, day events and promotions in addition to occasional own nights and her residencies. Clare's open minded attitude embracing all styles of music makes her incredibly versatile. She can play a huge variety of sets; from a 10+ hour chill out set to peak time hard techno, and pretty much anything in between...she welcomes the variety and has the record collection to back it up! She's best known for relentless, slamming and quirky techno, and also plays tech, deep and funky house, progressive, breaks and electro. In addition to this, she also plays deep, jazzy and soulful house, and really loves eclectic broken beat and nu-jazz sets, with downtempo, lounge and ambient/chill out. Occasional drum and bass sets are not out of the question either! Clare has a degree (BSc), an HND in Music Technology and Sound Engineering, and she engineers and produces every sort of music. Her diverse tastes make her adaptable, very open minded and extremely versatile. She is always smiling behind the decks! She is approachable, friendly, amiable and enthusiastic. If you book her, your crowds WILL WANT MORE!!! Clare absolutely loves DJing and is passionate about music. She writes her own material and intends to use her musical background to innovate and challenge not just the sounds we hear but HOW we hear them. 16. Les Hemstock is the only UK DJ and Producer to collaborate with trance god Paul Van Dyk, the results of which created the Top 20 hit 'Nothing But You' Alongside his partner Chris Jennings, they are the most revered and successful trance producers in Britain. Their productions are played by the worlds top DJ's including Tiesto, Armin, PVD, Ferry, Ornadel, Gielen - the list is truly endless! After joining forces a few years ago, Hemstock & Jennings had a string of massive anthems as Sagitaire, Merge and Hemstock & Jennings, lining the UKs record shops, resulting in them being one of the most in demand remix and production teams in the UK. Les has remixed for the likes of Ian Van Dahl, Warp Brothers and Joshua Ryan and his winning collaboration with PAUL VAN DYK is certainly a major highlight. Their record Nothing But You sold tens of thousands worldwide charting in every Top 20 national chart. As an international DJ, Les has entertained crowds all around the world. Whether it be playing in front of 60,000 clubbers at the huge Dance Valley festival in Holland, rocking the BBC Radio one soundstage in Ibiza or touring Asia with Gatecrasher. In England Les regularly appears at all the major trance clubs including Gatecrasher, Slinky, Goodgreef, Promise, and Escape. 2004 saw Hemstock & Jennings hit the worlds clubs with yet more huge trance hits including Reverance signed to Mondo Records and Magenta which has featured on Gatecrashers compilation and Paul Van Dyks Mixmag covermount compilation CD. Not only did Judge Jules and ArminVan Buuren make Reverance their radio shows tune of the week and Tried and Tested accolade, but world number one DJ Tiesto used it to open his live gigs! 2005 saw the release of "The Passion" on Mondo records and Hemstock and Jennings make another global advance by signing to fellow trance producer and top DJj Armin Van Buuren's label for future H&J releases, beginning with their widely supported "Babylon" tune. With DJ dates around globe, and a production schedule as long as his career, 2005 is going to be yet another very busy year for Les Hemstock. You have to see Les DJ live to understand what his magic is all about - catch him at some of the biggest and best International events! Recent gigs include Gatecrasher Tours BBC Radio One - Ibiza & London Dance Valley, Holland Planet Love Festival - Ireland Stargate Event - Vancouver Escape - Swansea Promise - Newcastle Slinky - Bournemouth Gatecrasher - Sheffield Goodgreef - Yarm Frisky - Northampton Hotdog - Notts Golden - Stoke Impulz Festival - Holland Koolwaters - Taunton Stargate - Canada Slinky - Bristol Dance Academy - Plymouth Room at the Top - Scotland Planet Love Festival - Ireland Wakestock Festival, Wales JIVE BUNNY The story of Les pop success begins during his 3 years residency at a hotel club in the sleepy town of Sandefjord in Norway. He had been living in Norway for almost 1 year when he began creating disco mixes for Djs at the local radio studio. This involved editing various parts of recording tape together to create one long running mix. He was sending these mixes to a UK company called Music Factory run by John Pickles and his son Andy. They would press them to vinyl and sell them to DJs all over the world. Eventually Les would get to know these guys during his frequent visits home to the UK and would call in at their studio and personalise their dealings to that of an eventual close friendship with both Andy and his father. As Les was playing a variety of swing and rock and roll records to the Hotel punters in Norway it seemed only wise to make a mix of that style that he could get good use out of. He purchased an old Glen Miller medley record for 50 pence from a used record shop in London and based his swing mix around the drum beats from that record which was recorded on tape and edited over and again to create a backing track of percussion to base his final mix upon. Les recorded Swing the Mood [so called because of the use of Glen Millers In the Mood tune as main lead] in a collective 7 hour session at the radio studio on a material cost of around 3 of old audio tape over night. On his next trip to England he took the mix with me to the Pickles and they bought it for 100. The mix was pressed, distributed to the various territories and the reaction over the next 18 months was phenomenal just the reaction the company had been waiting for to enable them to have a commercial release with a fairly calculated success possibility. This mix became the million selling Jive Bunny and the Master Mixers As you would expect Les life turned upside down he was travelling all over the place being treated like a pop star and paid lots of money for DJ performances that he had never enjoyed the likes of before. He purchased a nice house on a beach front in Sandefjord and had quite an enjoyable lifestyle over the following 2 years until the performance money and the relationship dried up leaving him in the terrible situation of being a house owner in the worlds second most expensive country with virtually no income. He was expecting some money from record sales by now to help support his new production career but as he trusted the Pickles he didnt tie them to a contract, and because of this he never received any further monies from the Jive Bunny project. (3 #1's in the UK, a #2 Album, #11 in the USA, #1 in Germany, Italy, Spain etc, worldwide #1's and a huge album] Les got legal advice but lawyers only advised without a contract he wouldnt win the case even though he has BPI awards for sales of over 900,000 albums! His name is on the 3 singles and album a full credit but no royalty. Now Les and Chris are steadily working their way to further musical success with their new productions and only hope and pray that God gives them the strength and perseverance to succeed in what can obviously be quite a ruthless industry. Name: Carlo Resoort & Jan de Vos Birthyear: Carlo 1973 Jan 1974 Currently live in: Amsterdam, Netherlands DJ Style: Energy and Uplifting Trance Producing style: Vocal and Energy Trance Behind the name 4 Strings hides 2 musicians, Carlo Resoort and Jan de Vos. The two have known each other since 1986. In 1990 they became interested in dance music and from that moment on, they started producing their own music. All their spare time was spent in the studio. Throughout the next couple of years not only did their skills expand but also the amount of equipment in their studio. With the new tools and experience that they had, they could finally discover in which direction they wanted to go with their musical careers: Carlo decided to stay in the studio while Jan found his passion in mixing and started his DJ-ing career. Jan met up with Piet Bervoets (Carlos, ROOS and Rank 1). Piet taught him the basics of mixing. After a couple of months, Jan joined a drive-in-show, where he played all kinds of music from R&B, Top 40 to Happy Hardcore. His skills were improving rapidly, and it was during this time period he noticed that his main interest was in dance music. After winning a first place prize in a DJ contest, he was offered his very own residency. Carlo Resoort started with dance music in 1994, and soon after that he had his first release. After a couple of releases he had his first major breakthrough: "Carlos - the silmarilla", produced together with Piet Bervoets of Rank 1. Two years later he had another hit with "Turn it around". Around this same time, a new record company was born, "Spinnin Records". Shortly thereafter Carlo signed his first record deal and 4 Strings was born. "Daytime" was the first track of 4 Strings, supported by Paul van Dyk, Judge Jules and Tisto. The follow up was "Into the night", which got even more support. After a vocal edit called "Take me away" it became a huge hit around the globe, even now the track can be heard worldwide. "Diving" and "Let it rain" were the follow ups, and soon the first album was released. After remixing Summer Sun they started to work on their second album Turn it around. The album was named after the new single which is a remake from Carlos former project Alena. Carlo also started another project under his own name, with productions like Remover, O class, "Musica, Ayers Rock and Rise. In 2005, 4 Strings released another hit Sunrise, this track was the theme of the number one dance music festival in Poland also called Sunrise. DJ 4 Strings is not just your average DJ, he is an entertainer. He is part of the new generation of DJs today. Crowds are amazed by his refreshing and unique style of playing music. DJ 4 Strings is always prepared with unpredictable and quality tracks that both excite existing fans and bring new people to the scene. There is so much good music out there and 4 Strings do not want to limit themselves to one style. 4 Strings is also in the top 10 for Holland on The DJ List. 4 Strings touring diary is incredibly hectic for 2006, with regular stops at major venues in the world. Such as touring the USA, Australia, Mexico, Poland, Asia and Holland just to name a few. 2006 is sure to be a massive year with the release of their brand new track Hurricane and also playing at the leading trance party of Holland Trance Energy in February. Summer 2006 will also see the first ever unique 4 Strings Live Tour worldwide. Following the release of their new album this year. Stay tuned and be amazed by this fast growing act in 2006! 19. Name: Daniela Friebe alias Kara Sun Birth Year: 1977 Currently lives in: Venlo, Netherlands DJ Style: Energy Trance / Vocal Trance / UK Hardhouse / Hardtrance Daniela was born 1977 in Germany. After the graduation as a Sports and Gymnastic Teacher she left Germany and moved to the Netherlands where she fell in love with a man and the music and the whole country. She was 21 when she started professional working as a dancer and promoter in different Clubs, Discos and Events in Germany, Netherlands, Spain, Belgium, Mallorca and Italy. In this jobs she was always in contact with the DJs, the Scene and the Music. As an energetic dancer she always tried to get the fitting music to her performance, but her favorite style got rare, the mainstream changed to Hip Hop and House, so she decided to become a DJ to play that music that she loves. It was in 2001 when she bought her first DJ equipment and records and she started mixing her first CDs. After some time training she presented her mix cds to several friends and djs and got lots of positive reactions on it. She started playing in 3 local clubs (Nottuln Airport, Mhlheim Nightlife, Knig) and so the first booking agency was found and she toured together with 3 German female DJs in big german clubs. Her style is much inspired by some of her DJ friends and producers like Piet Bervoets (Rank 1), Arne Reichelt (Alphateam), Ferry Corsten, Armin van Buuren, DJ Precision, Ron van den Beuken. She get her first success outside Germany as winner of 2 DJ Contests 2003 in the Belgian Club-Disco Atmoz and the dutch dtf club mixcontest. Job reasons forced her to take 2004 time off. But january 2005 she came back and they started working hard for a further success of her carrier. So some more gigs in the Netherlands been played and she spinned several times in Poland. Germany and Greece this summer after finishing some radio mixes that have been played in several radio stations around the world. Now she is working on more radio performances and is planning her following trips to asia and south america where they appreciated her style very much. My goal is to reach out to the audience and let them share in the joy and energy of music. Music is the engine that drives me, it influences 100% of my life. 20. Current Location: Hamburg - Germany Working as: DJ, Model, Dancers, Moderator Consists as: DJ, DJ + MC or Lice Act Music Style: Trance, Hard Trance, Euro-Dance Brooklyn Bounce is one of Europes most significant Live Dance Acts in the world. They are popular for their progressive sound, strong beats, pumping bass lines and a fat electrifying and bombastic hook line in their tracks. In the eight year history they could release no less than five albums and fourteen singles, which have all stormed the European and World Charts. Brooklyn Bounce was also nominated for two ECHO prizes and a COMET, as well as receiving Gold and Platinum awards. The producers Matthias Double M Menck and Dennis DJ Bonebeaker Bohn started their commercial succsess in the middle until the end of the 90th. The two Hamburg natives had their first success soon after they met the first time in 1995. Their first chart hit of Boyz R Us - Singin in my mind hinted what will come in the future. In 1997, the duo debuted as Brooklyn Bounce, a characteristical visual dance act fronted by the vocalists and dancers Stephan Damon Zschoppe, Ulrica Bohn and Maeva, two go-go girls from Hamburgs Traxx Club. The Theme (Of Progressive Attack) scaled the German Dance Charts as a club favourite before coming a crossover hit for Brooklyn Bounce in France, Austria, Scandinavia and Germany. The singles success let Brooklyn Bounce decide to produce the debut album, In the Beginning. This album became also big success in whole Europe so they decided to present the second album The Second Attack in the same year. With the presentation of the album Restart in 2001, Damons career ended with his decision to take more time with his family. Restart was a perfect produced hard trance album, that contains the chartbusters Club Bizarre, Born To Bounce, and Bass Beats & Melody. At this time Brooklyn Bounce was represented on stage by the cool Swede Ulrica Bohn, the fiery Chilean Alexandra Cuevas Moreno and the hot blooded Diabolo Rene Behrens. After many successful years, hundreds of performances together, the third album BB Nation and singles like Club Bizarre, Loud & Proud and Bring it back, Ulrica and Alexandra decided to leave their jobs as singers in the band and pursue new endeavours. In summer 2003 Brooklyn Bounce started a new chapter in their history. With the support of NESTL SCHLLER and VIVA, two new singers and dancers were sought in a nationwide casting action. A total of eight final contestants competed on VIVA to join the band. With the help of VIVA-viewers, the competition was won by 21-year-old Marina from Gelsenkirchen and 26-year-old Mandy who lives in Mlheim. Together with Diabolo, they presented the X2X (we want more), Crazy and the album X-Pect The Un-X-Pected which has been released in November 2004. The secret of their success is not a deal with the devil, it is more the unique, tough winking Brooklyn Bounce Sound, a hot style in varnish and leather with a demonic tempting attitude that was often copyed, but never in such a perfect completion. Brooklyn Bounce plans for october 2005 to release their new single and their sixth album.
