Effective layering in sound design and layering sounds in music production is about finding complementary sounds that work together to create a cohesive result. The best producers understand that great layering involves contrasting sounds that combine the best of different elements to create something truly unique. Longstoryshort exemplifies this in his latest IN MY MIND EP which you can listen to below as we work our way through the interview, following an international tour. His signature sound blends atmospheric, emotional cinematics with gritty, distorted bass design and heartstring-pulling, melodic elements. At the heart of this approach is layering contrasting sounds to achieve a result greater than the sum of its parts... Sound design is the foundation that brings a track to life, shaping its atmosphere, energy, and emotional impact. This is especially true in organic house music, where the texture and vibe of the music is as important as its melodies, grooves, and impact. Sinca is a perfect example of an artist who is a complete wizard at making heartstring-pulling club music that hits hard on big systems just as much as her music and its melodies linger with you long after she’s mixed into another banger in one of her DJ sets. With releases on labels like Anjunadeep, All Day I Dream, and XYZ, her unique take on one of today’s hottest dance music genres has brought her millions of streams and one of the fastest-rising careers in underground club music today… The post Sound design in organic house: Sinca shares the creative magic of Massive first appeared on Native Instruments Blog. sound design Free Live Webinar: Sound Design for Games
James posted a topic in Music Production Forum
“To create great sound design for video games, you need to capture not only the essence of the game itself, but also the expectations of the genre – but what does that look like in practice? In this webinar hosted by sound designer Giorgio Vezzini (Baldur’s Gate 3), and composer Michael Worth (Rush Hour 3), we will create laser weapon sounds in a few different genres – Sci-fi, Retro, and JRPG – showing you how to build a sound pallet for your game that reflects the world you're immersed in.” https://thinkspace.ac.uk/free-sound-design-webinar/ -
Does anyone else follow 343 Labs' YouTube channel ? The content is soooo good ! ⭐ https://www.youtube.com/@343labs John Selway (a significant figure in the Techno scene) creates some amazing videos on how to produce & mix various genres (Techno, Electro), DAWs (e.g. Ableton Live) also tutorials about sound design - he's a fountain of knowledge, I've included a few of his videos below. He also does regular live streams (e.g. Selway's Techno Saturdays) where he reviews peoples' music production and gives pointers as to where a track can be improved or arranged better, so good ! He also has other top producers on as guests, for example Christian Smith 😁 John isn't the only tutor / instructor at 343 Labs - there are loads of others, honestly such a good channel - I wish I had found it years ago ! I've created a list of all the best music production YouTube channels I follow here, on my blog https://jamesm.blog/music-production/youtube-channels/ If anyone knows of any other music production channels not on this list please let me know or reply to this topic, I'm always on the lookout for new tutorials, cheers YouTube Videos
