Name: Carlo Resoort & Jan de Vos Birthyear: Carlo 1973 Jan 1974 Currently live in: Amsterdam, Netherlands DJ Style: Energy and Uplifting Trance Producing style: Vocal and Energy Trance Behind the name 4 Strings hides 2 musicians, Carlo Resoort and Jan de Vos. The two have known each other since 1986. In 1990 they became interested in dance music and from that moment on, they started producing their own music. All their spare time was spent in the studio. Throughout the next couple of years not only did their skills expand but also the amount of equipment in their studio. With the new tools and experience that they had, they could finally discover in which direction they wanted to go with their musical careers: Carlo decided to stay in the studio while Jan found his passion in mixing and started his DJ-ing career. Jan met up with Piet Bervoets (Carlos, ROOS and Rank 1). Piet taught him the basics of mixing. After a couple of months, Jan joined a drive-in-show, where he played all kinds of music from R&B, Top 40 to Happy Hardcore. His skills were improving rapidly, and it was during this time period he noticed that his main interest was in dance music. After winning a first place prize in a DJ contest, he was offered his very own residency. Carlo Resoort started with dance music in 1994, and soon after that he had his first release. After a couple of releases he had his first major breakthrough: "Carlos - the silmarilla", produced together with Piet Bervoets of Rank 1. Two years later he had another hit with "Turn it around". Around this same time, a new record company was born, "Spinnin Records". Shortly thereafter Carlo signed his first record deal and 4 Strings was born. "Daytime" was the first track of 4 Strings, supported by Paul van Dyk, Judge Jules and Tisto. The follow up was "Into the night", which got even more support. After a vocal edit called "Take me away" it became a huge hit around the globe, even now the track can be heard worldwide. "Diving" and "Let it rain" were the follow ups, and soon the first album was released. After remixing Summer Sun they started to work on their second album Turn it around. The album was named after the new single which is a remake from Carlos former project Alena. Carlo also started another project under his own name, with productions like Remover, O class, "Musica, Ayers Rock and Rise. In 2005, 4 Strings released another hit Sunrise, this track was the theme of the number one dance music festival in Poland also called Sunrise. DJ 4 Strings is not just your average DJ, he is an entertainer. He is part of the new generation of DJs today. Crowds are amazed by his refreshing and unique style of playing music. DJ 4 Strings is always prepared with unpredictable and quality tracks that both excite existing fans and bring new people to the scene. There is so much good music out there and 4 Strings do not want to limit themselves to one style. 4 Strings is also in the top 10 for Holland on The DJ List. 4 Strings touring diary is incredibly hectic for 2006, with regular stops at major venues in the world. Such as touring the USA, Australia, Mexico, Poland, Asia and Holland just to name a few. 2006 is sure to be a massive year with the release of their brand new track Hurricane and also playing at the leading trance party of Holland Trance Energy in February. GREG DOWNEY is one of the freshest new talents emerging onto the club scene at the moment. Greg has been DJing for 4 years now at various clubs in and around Belfast where he grew up. He has also spent three seasons out in Ibiza. Throughout this time, Greg has played for Gatecrasher at Space, Euphoria at Eden and several other events including Sundissential and Storm. Very recently, he played for MTV at their Medonism Festival in Ibiza. Greg also ran his own successful night Pulse on the island for two seasons. Greg has been very successful in competitions he has entered. He won the prestigious DJ competition held by superclub Eden, resulting in him being given a set after Radio 1s very own Dave Pearce. Recently he won yet another, Irelands BBM Magazine DJ Competition. Greg was given a full write up/interview in the magazine and tipped to be one of the next big DJs to come out of Ireland. Greg has also been featured in the Sunday Life, Irelands largest newspaper and in Mixmag as a DJ to look out for. Having already built up a strong following in Ireland, Greg is now starting to launch his career in England where he is resident for Scream at The Station in Bristol, and with forthcoming dates all over the UK and Ireland, Greg is going from strength to strength.. Greg has recently secured his own weekend slot on Fire 107.6 fm based in the south of England, bringing his sound onto the radio. Greg is also a keen producer. Look out for his new track CLIMATE which was produced in collaboration with Belfast artists D.A.S.K. This track has been causing quite a stir everywhere he has been playing recently, and from early reactions looks set to be very successful. Prodigy: No Good (Start The Dance) For me, this was my most influential tune. I was only fourteen when I first heard it and it got me hooked on serious dance music. Definitely one of the most cutting edge tracks ever made. 2. DJ Misjah and Tim Access This is another golden oldie that never leaves my box. It has a really tuff acidy sound which was well before its time and it still does damage when I play it today. 3. Rank 1 The Citrus Juicer Might seem like a bit of an odd choice but this is an old trancer from Rank 1 before they got massive and in my opinion its one of the best trance tracks ever made. Its quite different but its a real stormer. Worst DJing moment: It has to be the second time I ever played out. I was only 17 and I went to start off my set, I faded out the other DJs last tune and went to start my first record. I cued it up and let it play only to realise that the needle was knackered and it skated right across the tune making the worst noise you could imagine. It was the jeers and laughs though that put the icing on the cake though!! Would most like to play: Main Room, Amnesia, Ibiza Most enjoyable set you've played: There are two that stick in my head; The first was on my 20th birthday when I played at the closing party of Euphoria at Eden in Ibiza 2000. I came on after Dave Pearce, the place was packed and everyone was going mad. I was nervous because that was the first really big club that I played in but I loved it. The second was on New Years Eve just past. I was playing at The Coach in Ireland and the atmosphere is amazing. Biography Sophie started DJing 4 years ago through her love of trance music and has since played at clubs throughout the UK and Europe including three successful seasons in Ibiza. As well as her DJing schedule both in Ibiza and the UK this year Sophie has also been concentrating on the production of her 2 forthcoming releases -Fearing Nothing and Angelz. Fearing Nothing (co-produced with @Vicky Devine) was produced in Holland earlier this year with dutch trance label F-Active. After having received a good response in Ibiza this summer, the tune is due for UK and European release imminently. Angelz, which was produced last year in England is due for release with Solar Records early next year. Andy Bagguley has Trance Revolution written all over him and in more ways than one. As resident DJ of the UK's highest profile clubs - 'Passion' - Andy spends his evenings providing the weekend soundtrack to the dedicated followers of Passion and his days helping to promote and organise Passion, regularly bringing in the freshest talent and highest profile artists from the UK and internationally.
