again, thats open to interpretation...

 

to me, 'classic hardhouse' defines tracks such as 'whitewolf', 'brainwave' and 'cagey groove' from years ago when hardhouse was basically a harder version of house music...

 

the term 'hardhouse' has (for the last 5-6 years) defined what is, in essence, slowed down hardcore which has been renamed and repackaged for a different audience - the actual 'house' input hardly even exists anymore

 

This is all in my opinion of course, so dont feel like im trying to start a bout of 'im right, your wrong' or something

...at the end of the day, i guess it's all down to what people like, what they listen to, and what name (genre) they want to give a certain 'sound' they hear

 

to be honest, its all about the individuals interpretation of the sounds they hear

I'd agree matey... BK, Dave the Drummer, et al are hard house... Maybe a bit more "intelligent" or "of more substance" - but deffo hard house. Styles may be techy influenced, but I wouldn't call them techno.

dont you think though at the end of the day that the whole music genre has gone way to political, i mean i could play a few tunes and think well is that hard trance hard house etc etc, theres some tune u just cant place a finger as 2 what they are i.e. music genre

I'd agree, to a degree. Music evolves. Most TDV stuff, if created today would be classed as hard trance. However, back then it was classed as hard house.

 

I think this is because so much has evolved, but also the quantity available has increased. Different artists then would take different paths, concentrating on specific things which then developed the genres - and created new ones.

 

I think far too much genre (and even sub-genre) snobbery exists, and that is where the real problems lie.

i dont know bout all u guys but wen i go out i always have fun and enjoy the music - i also REALLY love the really hard stuff by karim and Daley etc... the way i see it - i go out just ourely to see mates and hava dance no politics bother me and as a result me and my mates always have such a good time - i dont think HH has changed at all - it has lots of diff styles out atm (hard / fast / dark acidic line stuff etc) and i like it now as much as ever

Since I got into promoting, the politics followed.... I often wish I could just go back to leaving the politics behind. Music wise. Promoting wise. Brand wise. Individual wise.

 

Unfortunately, no matter what I've tried, it doesn't work.. But you're right - it's about mates and music, and having a good time. Now I like to try and be involved in creating the environments for others to do that. It lets me put something back into a scene I've taken so much from these past six years. And when you're standing there, with others losing it to the music, enjoying themselves with their mates - and knowing you've helped to create that, it's an amazing feeling. Then you join them on the dancefloor too, get into the music and have a good night.

also Chris, techno is such a broad genre, I class DAVE the drummer as the new acid london sound if you like & I love it as I do the old classic 303 smitten acid techno & im also loving some of the hard industrial stuff too, its my new found love at the mo is techno

last time i went to sundissential i really liked the music - not so bouncy and less of the formulaic breakdowns. thats one thing that does my head in about HH - breakdowns. at the same time. regularly. like clockwork.

Any dj will play for the event he/she is booked for or they should do   I think as Shane says so many genres & sub genres all crossing each other & producers from all genres experimenting trying to get a new original sound etc etc you will get it, ive heard some HH sounding like pys trance cos of some rifts etc in them & in techno etc.   Which is why I think the label Hard Dance is more apt now
