CTW DJs Chris Hutchinson Posted December 9, 2004 CTW DJs Share Posted December 9, 2004 QUOTE (Spunkmonkey @ Dec 9 2004, 11:56) ...plus boundaries between styles have been crossed a lot more recently, and 'new' genres have been created ...that possibly, although not classic hard house, can be seen to of stemed from it again, thats open to interpretation... to me, 'classic hardhouse' defines tracks such as 'whitewolf', 'brainwave' and 'cagey groove' from years ago when hardhouse was basically a harder version of house music... the term 'hardhouse' has (for the last 5-6 years) defined what is, in essence, slowed down hardcore which has been renamed and repackaged for a different audience - the actual 'house' input hardly even exists anymore This is all in my opinion of course, so dont feel like im trying to start a bout of 'im right, your wrong' or something
CTW Members Spunkmonkey Posted December 9, 2004 CTW Members Share Posted December 9, 2004 (edited) true, true ...at the end of the day, i guess it's all down to what people like, what they listen to, and what name (genre) they want to give a certain 'sound' they hear to be honest, its all about the individuals interpretation of the sounds they hear Edited December 9, 2004 by Spunkmonkey

CTW DJs Shaney R Posted December 9, 2004 CTW DJs Share Posted December 9, 2004 dont you think though at the end of the day that the whole music genre has gone way to political, i mean i could play a few tunes and think well is that hard trance hard house etc etc, theres some tune u just cant place a finger as 2 what they are i.e. music genre Quote www.faceparty.com/shaney_r Bookings/Info - www.myspace.com/shaney_r msn - punani65@hotmail.com OFFICIAL CTW AWARDS 1. CTW Members Bukey Posted December 9, 2004 CTW Members Share Posted December 9, 2004 QUOTE (Shaney_R @ Dec 9 2004, 15:29) dont you think though at the end of the day that the whole music genre has gone way to political, i mean i could play a few tunes and think well is that hard trance hard house etc etc, theres some tune u just cant place a finger as 2 what they are i.e. music genre I'd agree, to a degree. Music evolves. Most TDV stuff, if created today would be classed as hard trance. However, back then it was classed as hard house. I think this is because so much has evolved, but also the quantity available has increased. Different artists then would take different paths, concentrating on specific things which then developed the genres - and created new ones. I think far too much genre (and even sub-genre) snobbery exists, and that is where the real problems lie. I often wish I could just go back to leaving the politics behind. Music wise. Promoting wise. Brand wise. Individual wise. Unfortunately, no matter what I've tried, it doesn't work.. But you're right - it's about mates and music, and having a good time. Now I like to try and be involved in creating the environments for others to do that. It lets me put something back into a scene I've taken so much from these past six years. And when you're standing there, with others losing it to the music, enjoying themselves with their mates - and knowing you've helped to create that, it's an amazing feeling. Then you join them on the dancefloor too, get into the music and have a good night. CTW Members Phil rr Posted December 9, 2004 CTW Members Share Posted December 9, 2004 no...it's always been shit hasn't it? joke tidy stuff will always sound like tidy stuff no matter what they do to it last time i went to sundissential i really liked the music - not so bouncy and less of the formulaic breakdowns. thats one thing that does my head in about HH - breakdowns. at the same time. regularly. like clockwork. Any dj will play for the event he/she is booked for or they should do I think as Shane says so many genres & sub genres all crossing each other & producers from all genres experimenting trying to get a new original sound etc etc you will get it, ive heard some HH sounding like pys trance cos of some rifts etc in them & in techno etc. Which is why I think the label Hard Dance is more apt now Quote Techno, Techno, Techno
