In fairness to Drew, he's acheived something... He's the one to thank for all this debate, and for the fact that this time, CTW meets *will* return... And who knows, if meets are there some of those that have disappeared may return.

 

Not everyone feels able to setup and run a meet, or has the time to commit, etc... So, you can't blame them for not doing so... Just because they aren't able to run a meet, that doesn't mean that they don't want them or don't miss them... So I can understand people coming back and saying that they used to enjoy the meets.

 

If this site is no longer offering what some older members want (a larger community, meets, whatever) then they won't stick around... So again I can understand people floating in and out. It would be nice if they stuck around a little longer to try and build the size of the community up again, yest... But that can't be demanded of people. We have to remember that it's everyone's right to do as they please....

 

Hopefully, by arranging meets again we'll attract some older members back - and some new ones too... Hopefully photo taking/cards will also help.

 

All in all, we've starting moving in the right direction... Let's now start making CTW work wonders... Not like it did in the "old days" - but beyond even that and like it never has before....

again, well said - we just need yet more enthusiastic people to make this work on-going and not have to take several steps back once in a while

 

I entirely agree that the site and community can be even BETTER than before.

 

For one we no longer have ANY moderation issues - its clear that the mods are now only having to move posts around in the event sections (I've checked the log activity) and are no longer side-tracked with warnings and calming the odd argument down - this means we're all now finally freed up to think about and plan the 'meet' concept again (thank god)

 

ps. thanks to Lisa & Maria for keeping all the event sections up to date and keeping the sight clean - they do this voluntarily and i know first hand how much time this takes up (especially in the "old days" lol)

re: laminates

 

what i REALLY REALLY want to get are properly hard-cased plastic ID tags - showing photo, screen name, location and other details etc...

 

laminated would be ok but ideally want even better quality ones - does anyone know of any companies who make such ID badges ??? Failing that a company who can provide high quality laminated cards.

 

The cards I have are quite nice but they are just hard card - they are not laminated

 

Note: this isnt something we can do ourselves on our own printers/laminators - I'm after like 10,000 cards and 100+ ID badges ...

What I also want to get to this year is an official Welcome Pack, which will be a physical package sent out to each new member who registers and states that they are interested in our meet-ups.

 

Would be good to provide that extra personal touch and make people feel really part of the site and its community
