CTW Members smittenkitten288 Posted January 12, 2005 CTW Members Share Posted January 12, 2005 Good idea Dan on the bottle front but yeah was a stupid. Was so well organised though, its the only thing I can find fault with really (and single file access to all the bloody toilets..what was that about, like a rabbit warren!). They have different legal requirements there in terms of Health and Safety but may not be a bad idea taking a water bottle top or even a flask ! ha ha Ref B+Bs, Mark looked at this and the cost different was negligble (cant spell oops) as everything fairly expensive there. As soon as dates are confirmed, I vote we try and get some sort of group booking cos we may be able to negotiate on rates. We stayed in an ok hotel right near the station last time which was brilliant in terms of access to everything and right where we needed to be. Depending on finalising the dates and getting the time off work I am cool for staying on. Would definitely be staying till the Sunday anyway. CTW Members Mark 2 Posted January 12, 2005 CTW Members Share Posted January 12, 2005 Just for those that havent been to the Dam, their are very very few B&Bs there.. and if you find one, dont bother! The hotel equivalents are generally of 2star quality but the cost is obviously higher.. Im checking online now for the same place helen and i stayed last year and will post some ideas of cost.. CTW DJs LiamStyles Posted January 12, 2005 CTW DJs Share Posted January 12, 2005 I doubt u will be able to take any bottles or flasks into the event. U cud have alcohol in it (stopping u from buying as much drink from the actual bars) or worse still geebee or something. CTW Members Mark 2 Posted January 12, 2005 CTW Members Share Posted January 12, 2005 ive done a quick check with hotels.com.. bear in mind that amsterdam is the capital and we are going in high season. We also need to be in the central tourist area by the main Central Station and Dam square. It can be some walk to the cheaper hotels on the outskirts of the city! 1 star hotel = back packers/low budget (avoid this unless you dont mind dingy!) but still expect to pay around £35 pppn 2 star hotel based on 2 sharing for 3 nights (ive used 5th-8th Aug) is going to cost between £40-£50 per night to ensure you have your own bathroom 3 star hotel based on 2 sharing - ive just found one right on Dam square for 3 nights with own bathroom and air con for £50 pppn. Flights from Luton to Amsterdam - going out on Fri 5 Aug and returning monday work out at £40 pp.. This is obviously without any group booking..
