CTW Members Bukey Posted January 26, 2005 CTW Members Share Posted January 26, 2005 Emergence presents Turn 27th January 2005 The Emergence crew are proud to present Birmingham's newest DJ competition, Turn. Catering for DJs in hard dance, Turn will see six parties select the Turn DJ of the Year 2005. Turn will cater for DJs in hard house, hard trance, techno and hard-nrg genres, and applications are currently being invited. Entrants are required to submit a mix in either CD or mini-disc format of between 30 and 45 minutes in length. The closing date for applications will be Friday 11th February 2005. On Saturday 12th February, a selection process will take place to decide which entrants will participate in the heats. Four DJs will participate in each of four heats, with the winner of each heat going through to the final. Additionally, there will be an "open decks" heat that will also serve as the opening party of the competition. DJs that weren't selected or missed the deadline for entering are invited to take place in the "open decks" heat. This will give another four DJs the opportunity to battle it out for a place in the final. Each heat and the final will be presided over by a mixture of Emergence judges and judges from elsewhere within the hard dance industry. The winnning DJ of the competition will receive a set at an Emergence event, and will be named Turn DJ of the Year. Details of heat dates and venue will be released shortly. Applicants are asked to submit their entrance mixes by handing them to a member of the Emergence crew, or sending them to: Bukey Turn DJ Competition Emergence c/o 234 Yorkminster Drive Birmingham B37 6TB Only one mix CD per DJ will be accepted as entrance to the competition, and mixes under 30 minutes or over 45 minutes will not be considered. CDs received after Friday 11th of February 2005 will also not be considered. CTW Members Bukey Posted January 26, 2005 Author CTW Members Share Posted January 26, 2005 Didn't receive it matey, sorry... Also, we're asking for mixes between 30 & 45 minutes from all DJs, so the same rules apply and everyone has to go through the same process. It's to help keep things fair. I know you can't do much in that time frame, as a DJ, but we've got to listen to all mixes to decide who goes through to the heats. Once received, all demos will be copied and labelled with only a number. Only one person will know which number relates to which demo, and they will not be judging the demos. A list will be prepared matching the number to the DJ, and sealed in an envelope on the 11th February. All demos will be listened to by a panel of Emergence judges. Because the DJ behind each demo will not be known, it will be impossible for favourtism to be shown. Demos will be listened to, and the panel will decide which demos have earned a place in the heats. Once all demos have been listened to, and those being put forward for the heats decided, the list prepared matching the demo numbers to DJs will be consulted to inform those that have been successful which heat they will be in.
