What's the best file sharing programme...

surely it's easier to shut down the file share programs like they did to napster years ago than hunt individuals

well common sense & sheer logic would tell you this but hey!!!?? shrug.gif

155575[/snapback]

And then what happens? after a 6month legal battle, (which will cost taxpayers hundred of thousands of pounds/dollars) they win and another program will simply appear to take its place...

Only way to stop em is to stop the people who use them

dunno how it works Chris or the in's & outs but amazes me how it is illegal yet you do a search in google & shed loads of file share sites come up, just seems more logical to get rid of these unsure.gif

It is just one of those things I guess that will always be there & they will always be trying to stop.

chris - this sounds like its a subject close to your heart! it is unfortunate that people loose money in royalties etc when people download files illegally in this way but if they want more people to BUY it in the first place then maybe they should try reducing the costs. the price to actually manufacture them are pence, and royalties are a very small percentage of the actual price the customer pays. if the police want to reduce the amount of illegal downloading which goes on, maybe they need to look at changing the law about the profits record companies and distributers (e.g. HMV) are making. if these were cut, the actual cost would be much reduced and i believe, many more people would be prepared to actual buy them!

What great logic you display by trying to justify it 'because it costs too much' sad.gifnono.gif

and exactly how did i suggest that your going to beat someone up to buy it?

and can i just point something out? just because i have said all this, doesnt mean i ACTUALLY download music etc. and even if i did i feel it would be within my right to do so.

New DVD's are nearly £30, how the hell is that justified? Where does all that money go? In the pockets of fat money hungry company directors, why should i pay to line their pockets?

are you saying the vast majority of the money DOES go to the recording artists then? and i wasnt just relating it to music, i just used that as an example, sorry i should have made that clear.

hahah you have said it yourself, the artist does NOT get the full amount of cash that we pay for a cd, so clearly by downloading it illeaglly you are stopping the artist, who has worked hard to make a tune or a song, get less or nothing!!

Is it not better that the artist who has made a song/tune for our pleasure to at least get something back, rather than everyone downloading tunes for free & them getting nothing??
