Emergence Presents Turn DJ Competition 2005

The Search Has Begun…

With the deadline for entries to the DJ competition from Emergence having now passed, it's become apparent that the search for the Turn DJ of the Year 2005 has become a nationwide one. We've received applicants from Wales, Leicester, Nottingham, Gloucester, Manchester and further afield.

 

On Monday, we'll announce which entrants have made it through to the heats. If you've entered, make sure you've got your phone switched on and close to hand - we'll be getting in touch just after midday to let people know if they've made it through the selection process.

 

For those DJs that don't make it, or miss the deadline date for submissions, it's not necessarily the end of the competition. We're having an "open decks heat" giving five more DJs the chance to win a place in the final. The open decks heat is also the Turn launch party - details of how to play the open decks heat will be released next weekend when our flyers hit the streets.

 

The competition kicks off at 9pm on Friday March 4th and will run every Friday until the final. Taking place on Friday April 8th, the final will see the winner decided. All heats and the final will take place at the new home of Emergence, Club Exclusive @ The Windsor. Club Exclusive is on Cannon Street in Birmingham City Centre (off New Street and Corporation Street). After April 8th, Emergence will launch once a month at Club Exclusive.

 

Club Exclusive @ The Windsor is a venue that hasn't hosted a hard dance event since 2003. We're pleased to say that the venue is still as intimate as it ever was, as atmospheric as can be imagined and as loud as ever before. With improvements to sound, lighting and aesthetics, we're sure that we've found the right venue both for Turn and for Emergence.

 

The club has also had a projector and screen fitted, a stage has replaced the podiums and we've arranged drinks promos all night. All in all, it's going to be a great space customised with Emergence decor to become the perfect party venue.

 

The winner of Turn will get a residency at Emergence as well as the Emergence Exposure Pack. We've been busy in talks with promoters of other events to create the exposure pack, a package of sets at other events in Birmingham, the Midlands and beyond.

Notes for editors:

 

- Emergence is a hard dance promotions company specialising in dirty/filthy hard house. Whilst the main room sound is specialised, Emergence also caters for all hard dance genres (hard house, hard trance, hardstyle, hard-nrg and techno).

 

- Turn is a new DJ competition catering for all hard dance genres (as mentioned above).

 

- Turn DJ Competition 2005 will run on Friday March 4th, 11th, 18th & 25th and on Friday April 1st & 8th.

 

- Turn heats and the final will be held Club Exclusive @ The Windsor, 33 Cannon Street, Birmingham. Club Exclusive is next to City Plaza and Cannon Street is off New Street/behind Corporation Street. All events will start at 9pm and finish at 2:30am. Door tax will be £2.50 per person.
