Heat Details and Prizes

 

As the launch party of Turn nears, the Emergence crew are pleased to release the details of the DJs making it through to the heats. The heats will take place every Friday between March 4th and April 1st, with the final on Friday April 8th.

 

All events are taking place at Club Exclusive @ The Windsor in the heart of Birmingham City Centre. Doors open at 9pm and we party through 'til 2:30am, with drinks promos all night and door tax just £2.50 per person.

 

We've secured some great prizes for the winner and compiled them into the "Emergence Exposure Package" - a unique opportunity for the winner to get themselves heard at some great events, and something that will hopefully help them to springboard their DJ careers even further. The winner will win:

 

- A residency at Emergence (launching monthly after the competition)

- A main room set at a future Sundissential event

- A set at Shaft

- A set at Dropzone

- A guest set on Clubbed Up radio

- A guest set on Hard House UK radio

 

We're still arranging prizes with some other events, so watch this space. As soon as we've confirmed other sets, we'll release the information. Additionally, the runner up will win:

 

- A set at Emergence

- A set at Shaft

 

All DJs that missed the deadline for entering, or didn't get shortlisted for the heats, are invited to enter the open decks heat that will take place on Friday March 4th. The first five DJs to text in their name to 07903969008 after 12 noon on Friday March 4th will get sets at the heat. Details of the other DJs are:

 

Friday March 11th: Pete D / Terra*t / Ioan Evo / Rich Smith

Friday March 18th: Alex Towse / James dB / Ziatek / Shaney R

Friday March 25th: Chris Hutchinson / Macca / K-Lee / Matt Hilton

I had two provisos when Gazza suggested running a competition... The first was that it was fair - and we've gone out our way to make sure that the judging is not only fair but also seen to be fair - we're going to be open with the process and have set procedures in which the judges score DJs.... The second was that we do it properly - hence the prizes, and the venue - it's spot on for a comp! Oh, they'll also be dancers, our own decor... Emergence is back after a six month break, and we want to make sure that the comp can give the winner the best springboard possible...

I have to say, this deffo seems like a comp that offers more to the winning DJ than what the promotion gets out of it. Something that is quite rare.

Emergence has a strong ethos... All those involved want to put something back into a community and a scene we've taken so much from. We refuse to rip clubbers off (hence the £2.50 door tax). We value our artists (hence the package we've put together for the winner).

 

By giving the winner a residency and a package that springboards them, we're hoping that our their hardwork will benefit both themselves and that Emergence gets associated with them. As they develop and become larger, Emergence will benefit. Equally, as Emergence's hard work makes Emergence bigger, the DJ will be associated with the brand and the brand will benefit the DJ. As both develop and grow, the benefits can be mutual.

Gotta agree with what Liam said as well, it was very apparant when you (Bukey) phoned me to let me know I was thtough that a LOT of preparation and thought had gone into making it a success :-)

It sure has been far too long bukey, correct me if i'm wrong but it was either tidy weekender 4 or a sunnys north in leeds i last saw you!

 

So yes it has been ages.
